Naturally I'm a transparent person, so please let me start by saying that I mean this with all due respect. When I first entered the business I was a bit uncomfortable, I'm just going to be blunt. I'm black and felt out of place in a skateboard shop. As much as I love skateboarding, it's not something naturally accustomed in my environment so I had a bit of nervousness coming in, and I definitely didn't look like the skateboarding type. I've haven't been riding for years and my little sister picked up the interest so here I was board shopping. The experience was excellent. I've seen some reviews here that may say otherwise, and different personas do experience reality differently. BUT, in my experience I have nothing bad to say. They were welcoming, chill, cool people. They allowed me to inspect and get a feel for boards I was interested in. They answered all my questions from actual experience. I was even able to have a whole zoom meeting about board brands. To make a long review short. Great store, clean and organized, great staff, wonderful experience. Definitely my go to skate shop now. And if you're a fellow customer going in to buy a board. Please don't take the long board with the purple flying fish and wheels, I'm coming back for it. To the employees of the Compound BoardShop y'all some real "African Americans" in my book G. Read moreIt's been about 15 years since I stood on a skateboard and one morning I woke up just wanting to skate again.
Always support local, so I went over to Compound for the first time and was immediately greeted with smiling faces. Everyone in this store is incredibly friendly, chill and their customer service is top notch.
I wanted to build a custom skateboard and Pookie (I hope I got this right) was very patient with me through the whole processes, I really had no idea what I wanted and he had wonderful recommendations. He literally built the board right in front of me!
They offer so many things here.. fishing, paddleboards, clothes, shoes, skateboards, surfboards, longboards, camping, yachting... it's endless! I ended up grabbing a new pair of shoes to go skating with my new board.
Honestly, since I've started skating again my mental health has gotten dramatically better. Feels good to go outside and adventure again, and I just wanted to thank everyone at Compound for helping me out.

Read moreI needed a leash for my new paddleboard - an experienced paddleboarder told me she got hers from Compound and recommended them. Right on the way home from Turtle Beach! Steve helped me - took time to show me options and the came out to my car and put it on for me right there, even though that meant doing the work upside down ( easier that taking the board out of the car). He took extra time to be sure it was secure and showed me how to use it! He has a deep background in board sports with the knowledge and passion that made for a great experience. The shop is visually beautiful, full of necessities for all kinds of board sports as well as the delightful fun stuff like yeti cups, coolers, and lovely clothes. I succumbed to temptation and got a gorgeous yeti car cup - the kind staff let me check to be sure it fit in my cup holder before I bought it - a small thoughtful touch that says a lot about how they work with us customers. The leash is a delight and works beautifully....
