The Oasis Cafe & Bakery — Restaurant in Sarasota

I'm a frequent patron to this restaurant and almost always pleased with the food and staff. Today was a whole other story. The other two people I was with ordered the fish of the day (grouper) and both had the same thing to say about it after the first bite..... fishy and not fresh tasting. When we told the waitress about the issue she asked what else we wanted and handled it like a great waitress would. The issue was when she came back and said the cook/owner said that fish is a salt water fish and that's what it taste like and if we wanted anything else will would have to pay for both. We asked to speak to the cook who came out took our plates and basically told us to leave without any offer of other food or an apology. As you can see this is my 1st review so I don't usually speak up about these type of issues, but I have never seen someone come from the back kitchen take the plates and tell us to leave. The cook/owner must of been having a bad day or really took his cooking to heart. I hope tomorrow is a better...

I love this little cafe and eat there frequently. However, today was the worst service I have experienced. After my food was dropped off the waitress never came back during my entire meal. Not even to refill my coffee. I had to ask another waitress for my check. When the waitress finally brought my check I asked her why she didn’t return and she said she was busy taking a to-go order and was very rude. I walked inside the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager and her response was “good luck with that” I’m front of other customers. After the manager came out she explains to me they are very short staffed. I kindly said, I understand that as I waitressed for many years but there is never an excuse to be rude to a customer. Not to mention how unprofessional. I let her know what the waitress said and barely got an apology. I have never in my life had a waitress treat...

I love there food,so i told my classmate to go there to have lunch yesterday,i have to say that's the second times i felt how poor was the services,last time we received the bill after the food just already by 15 min,that was sad,and yesterday we were 6 people,i told everybody leave $2 tips for each person on the table to b nice,cause i been working in the restuarant,after we received the bill ,i realized that she added 20% tips of the total bill,IT suprised me,i been many American restaurant ,this is a highest tips i ever saw in breakfast place,although we wants to give that much for good manners ,but they was asked us by force on the bill,just BECAUSE WE R ESL STUDENTS CAME FORM DIFFERENT...
