Ted Sperling Park Nature Trail — Attraction in Sarasota

We actually are reviewing the kayak launch at Ted Sperling Park. It is way too commercialized!!! It states it's a "public" park, but it is completely overrun by numerous kayak businesses. We were there on a Saturday and there was at least 7 different kayak rental businesses there. On returning from our trip on the water, we had to wait in a line of about 50 kayakers who were also trying to get back to the launch. If all these businesses do have a license to operate at this park, then the city of Sarasota dropped the ball on this one. 4-th of July : there would have been parking for thousand of cars along the Bennie Franklyn Rd and side roads if the cops would declare a parking restriction free day to honor the 4-th, instead they had chosen simply to stay in their ac-cooled cars and waive to drivers turn-around (i.e. get out of here). Hundreds of cars had no choice other than to head back inland. What a sheer disrespect towards the public and towards the 4-th which should be a day of celebration...

Clean bathrooms, small crowd during the week. Lots of people fishing but it's clean, the water is clear, there's trails to hike and grills to cook out on as well as a volley ball net. Bring a bag for all the shells you'll find too! One of my favorite beach parks...
