On the third night of our stay Patricia suddenly gave us three hours to leave the property. When we called foul play on this she threatened us with the police. Airbnb had to get involved to mediate her irresponsible behavior and they paid out of pocket to put us up at a hotel down the road. She did all of this in an act of retaliation because we shut off an undisclosed smart thermostat in our unit which was operating a loud HVAC 24 hours a day disturbing our quiet time and making us cold. A day prior we had politely asked to stop remotely altering our thermostat settings; to which she blamed the past guests and promised that no one was secretly changing the climate. The next day I saw the same thing: AC changed to 70 right in front of me. We simply shut off the thermostat, happy with the natural weather. We never violated any posted rules & she didn't communicate or warn that the suite must be kept at 70. Instead, she lied that no one remotely changed the temperature. She lied to us several times:||First, she said the thermostat was not being remotely controlled and that the previous guests had set a bad program. Immediately after she said this, she then promised to remotely change it to a program more agreeable to us. The lie here was obvious. Then, in order to justify retaliating against us for shutting off the system (at that moment running nonstop AC) she lied that we were running the heat while it was 80+ degrees outside. But the whole reason she was retaliating against us was for shutting the thing off, so how could we be running the heat while it's off? Just absolutely bizarre communication and decision making. This person needs to hire a professional property manager and stop retaliating against people for not being able to read between the lines of her lies. She needs to publish posted rules, disclose that the thermostat is strictly controlled remotely, that the AC must be set to 70 ("or else') and guests must accept that as part of the stay. She needs to stop deceiving guests and expecting them to read her mind and use their intuition to understand her unposted rules. Her empathy to her guests and ability to resolve conflicts and disputes is nonexistent, which is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. She and her property are a danger to anyone wishing to have a normal and uncomplicated stay.||||Apart from the owner's appalling and unprofessional conduct:||No blankets. Under-equipped kitchenette. Only a few cups. Toaster cannot be described as usable. Poor furniture in a state of disrepair (and hand painted in order to refurbish it). Poor mattress with a faulty boxspring with a "sinking in" broken springs sensation. This is the most subpar Airbnb I have ever stayed at, even notwithstanding the owner's...

Read moreWe booked our stay at a hefty price tag compared to other options in the area. We cancelled upon arrival and despite the owner agreeing to refund our stay, once we contacted the 3rd party they refused to refund the entire stay. Pictures are very deceiving. Any maintenance on this property has been very obviously delayed or poorly executed from indoor/outdoor to lawn/garden. We stayed 1 night since we were forced to pay it. Hot water heater took two showers to get above lukewarm. No extra blankets/pillows left for pullout couch/rollaway. Shower leaked and nearly flooded bathroom floor. Mattress was horrid and rollaway cot was even worse. We didn't dare open the couch. 4 standard pillows on a king bed and when we asked about additional pillows were told this should suffice for King Bed, Rollaway, and pullout couch. We ended up using cushions from the furniture as pillow. No extra towels, not even enough towels for the 4 of us. Laundry is out in front and is not well maintained. It was rather shocking the pricetag for the service. Though is close to the beach, still would not walk with a family. We looked at 2 rooms and one at another location and both were bad. Air wasn't even on in other room. Air in the room we booked wouldn't shut off and we froze all night and couldn't keep warm and had no access to additional amenities. The whole experience put a massive damper on our trip to the area and spent two vacation days trying to find a new place to stay. Do not recommend for the price paid. If you're paying $50 a night maybe - I've not even stayed at a low dollar motel in...
