Rude staff with a huge ego. I called Moss Bay rentals to make a group reservation for this weekend. Their website clearly states hours on the Groups from 10a to 7p so I (wrongly assumed) you’d be able to make a group reservation on weekends within this time interval. When I called, they explained that they only allow group reservations at 9:30am on weekends. On the website it mentioned that group reservations had a “start time of 9:30am” but I interpreted this as meaning group reservations started at 9:30am and not that this was the ONLY possible start time. The website was unclear and shouldn’t list hours if they aren’t true for group rentals.

The manager at Moss Bay was not apologetic and insisted that the website was perfectly clear. He was rude and insisted that the website was perfectly clear and I was stupid for making my wrong assumption.

A couple hours after our call, I noticed that the website was updated (see image #2) and a note was added that clearly states the weekend rentals must start at 9:30am and that time only.

This isn’t the way to...

I recently had the pleasure of kayaking with Moss Bay Kayak on Lake Union in Seattle, and it was an absolute delight! The stunning views of the Seattle skyline and the iconic Space Needle created a breathtaking backdrop for our adventure. Paddling along the tranquil waters, we were mesmerized by the beauty of the city from a unique perspective. The service provided by Moss Bay Kayak was exceptional. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured that we had a safe and enjoyable experience. They provided us with all the necessary instructions and equipment, making it easy for us to embark on our kayaking journey. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcome and added to the overall positive experience. Additionally, passing by the charming lake houses along the shoreline added a touch of charm and serenity to the outing. It was a beautiful experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Seattle's natural beauty while enjoying a fun and relaxing activity on Lake Union. Moss Bay Kayak truly exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to...

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their job. Great for first timers. Equipment seems well maintained. There are color paths for efficiency from checking in to paying out. Pay is determined by thing rented by the hour (Estimated cost from poor memory, but for sure everything was $22 or below):

Double kayak: $22/hr Single Kayak: $18/hr Paddleboards: $20/hr

For three beginners, we paddleboarded over halfway up lake union before turning around and that took a little less than as hour.

Note: There are no lockers, just shelves where people could potentially take your stuff, but they are in line of sight of the staff and not directly accessible...

I’ve kayaked on Lake Union a few times now. Compared to other rental shops, Moss Bay exceeded expectations. The customer service was great—staffed full of friendly faces. Located on the south end of Lake Union, it was the perfect place to capture the skyline of downtown Seattle, the Space Needle, and Gas Works (all in an hour). Other Pros: Beginner friendly, which was good because I was with Mom (an inexperience kayaker). They provided a large waterproof bag for personal belongings. The price was cheaper: $24/hour for a double ($12/person if split). Fees are prorated 1/4 an hour after the first hour. Cons: Expensive paid parking—$9.81 for 2 hours.
