TL;DR Hack Job. Ignored my direction. Removed far more hair than previously agreed.
I walked in with almost 9 inch hair, having grown out my hair for a full year since a barber butchered it the last time I had it cut. I left with at most 3 inches of hair. I expressed how I required it to REMAIN long on the top so it could be combed back or to the side without the use of product. And that I wanted the sides shaved to the skin at the bottom, and fading up to the base of where it was to remain long. She asked if it was alright to remove some hair at the top, saying that she would have to. She even held up the amount, showing about 3 inches to be removed (leaving nearly 6 inches to style as I please). I agreed that was acceptable and that I understood the nessecity for doing so. I expressed that I couldn't wear product at work. And that I have had bad experiences in the past and that's why I had grown it out so long, so that the same mistake of it being cut too short wouldn't be repeated. This all being established, at some point she started blending the length to the sides, cutting it much shorter than previously agreed. When I tried to ask her afterwards, about where the misunderstanding in terminology must've occurred, she became defensive and said that she was just trying to "work with what she had" (9 inches? Really?) And "shape my hair". Anyone who has had such long hair, knows how much time and effort went into growing it. And would understand that when you say you wish it to remain long, you mean long. Not...
Read moreI moved to Capitol Hill in May of 2019 and have been coming in about once a month since then. I’ve always had a good experience with Emily and the rest of the staff until my last experience.
I had a very large beard and needed it to be short and professional for job interviews. My barber Ben Taylor did not use scissors on my beard once, did not ever lean my chair back once, and proceeded to give me what is arguably the worst beard cut I’ve ever experienced in my life. It was not cut evenly or lined up properly and I left looking less professional than I did when I had an 8 inch beard coming off my chin. I eventually had to buy a beard trimmer after I left to fix it myself.
When he cut my hair I felt like he was taking too much off to which he replied that he was not, then when we finished I expressed that what he had done was not what I had in mind and his response was to tell me I should get better at explaining what I want, and it might not be what I want but it’s what I got, then rushed me out of his chair.
Never in my life have I had such a terrible experience with a barber before. Every other experience there was great but after this I will never go back, or recommend this...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience at The Scotch Pine Barbershop! Booking through their website was incredibly easy, and I appreciated the many notifications for confirmation and reminders. My appointment was at 10 AM on a weekday, and finding free street parking was a breeze.
Justin was my barber, and he was excellent. Not only was he a great listener, but he also read my mind on the hairstyle I was going for. He made the entire process feel effortless, and on top of that, he's a great conversationalist. The shop itself was clean and cozy, making it a welcoming space to relax in.
One of the best surprises was meeting Arwen, the cutest and friendliest dog in the shop! Overall, a top-notch experience that I...
