We continue to visit this place regularly since it's so easy to get in a 5k walk by doing 2 figure "8" laps with the little extensions added in. Many people complain about the smell but that's what a wetland influenced by the tide does. It smells bad when the tide goes out. If you want to avoid the smell then go at high tide. The park is sandwiched between I95, housing and commercial properties but it is still a pleasant place to visit. Lots of wildlife hiding in the water and reeds, we see lots of photographers here any time we go. There is somebody who needs to be versed in Leave No Trace. Every so often when I go there they have vandalized the trail with religious messages. I'm not talking "kids doodling with sticks" l, this is deliberate vandalism with the slogans deeply etched into the hard packed trail. This kind of nonsense causes damage from erosion over time. It also detracts from the natural beauty of the area. Whoever is doing this needs to stop and leave God's...

Had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised!! Flat trails, easy and free parking, beautiful marshlands filled with birds, turtle, and flowers!! A surprise given it's location behind a shopping center.

I have hiked in many places and recognize that this is truly a gem and hope it stays that way; I saw several people walking their dogs with one lady having her dog off leash, which is a problem regardless of how "friendly" or "well trained" your dog is, it is still a animal and there are many people who do not like, are allergic to, or are afraid of dogs. Also, it's a preserve so please DO NOT off leash walk your dog here. You can get fined and there are parks department employees that regularly check on this park. There are a lot of wild animals roaming around and families with kids so please be...

The marsh is an interesting location to observe nature. The numerous stumps protruding the surfaces of the water ignites the sense of reasoning as to why the stumps are there? While walking across the first bridge you may hear the waters surfaces being broken and get the opportunity to note the Carp fishes that seemed to of found a home in these swamps. Their size suggest they've been there for some time. The birds are numerous and if you're an observer you see swallow tails, darting and riding the air currents, ducks, meandering about, robins, going about their daily endeavors and numerous stalks that congregate around the central area of the marshes water body. It's an interesting place to check out and relatively close to numerous eateries should the endeavor...

I visited this trail today . Good for a nice walk . Calm and peaceful environment . Not many people I saw there today . Beautiful flowers and trees both side of the trail . It could be romantic walk date for a couple too :) group of small birds flying around you like jet plain 😂. Only problem I had is that I was getting disgusting rotten smell few times obviously because it’s a marsh trail . But l loved the place . Tip - park is open till dusk but it will be best if you go there till afternoon time. Or else towards evening while walking there you might get bug bites.

I went to the Marsh Discovery Trail at Richard W. DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst, and it’s such a peaceful, easy walk. The half-mile boardwalk goes right over the water, with marsh grasses, open views, and plenty of birds all around. There are benches, shaded spots, and little viewing areas where you can just stop and watch. I saw egrets, ducks, and lots of red-winged blackbirds, and the Manhattan skyline in the distance made it even more special. The trail is flat and good for all ages.
