Being from out of state, and having had spa experiences in many places, I guess I was surprised at the lack of amenities for a spa, the blase customer service, and the VERY different reality from the website. We went to the "spa" in Sedona on 12/30 with my daughter. We both had a massage (one with hot stone add-on), a body scrub (one was the agada experience), and a facial (one with dermaplaning). The treatments were fine, not great, fine. what REALLY surprised me was: The place looks NOTHING like the website, it is basically a small strip mall, no majestic mountain views, etc. I was told that the pictures represent the picnic and other outside events that they offer, and that they are in a different location.... Hmmmm that is certainly NOT what is conveyed in the website. NO SHOWERS!!!! I have never been to a place that calls itself a spa, and not have a shower. So after our massages and body scrubs we had no way to get clean. I was offered hot towels... but that is not the same, and our hair was oily. The technician did go to her car to get me a hair tie! Really no hair ties available, or even a shower cap? Oh yes, no showers LOL. We were planning on doing some shopping and go to a restaurant afterwards, but we felt kind of gross after that. So, we drove back to Prescott after our treatments. On the phone when I originally booked our "spa" day, I asked if we could order food, and I was told yes, and that they would order for us, and we could have it in the lounge. Reality: The receptionist at first said they had no food, and I mentioned that I was told I could order from Picazzo. She said that I could order right then, before my treatment. However, I told her that the place did not open until 11:00 am, and we were starting at 10:00 am. So no food. Oh and the lounge was a couple of seats in a small partitioned room next to the sauna?... I was told that they have packaged nuts, and water. Again, I have never been to a spa, where if a customer is there for 4 hours, that does not offer snacks, or fruit, tea or other refreshments... No locker room, to put your stuff in, I had to carry ALL my clothes, and boots in a huge bag from treatment room to treatment room. They did not even have a little pouch to put my jewelry in. I was told to put my jewelry in the slipper bag! And I had to ask if they had a robe. LOL.
All in all, I guess this is a great place for a single treatment, and if you live there or staying in Sedona. It is pricey for the service, treatment, venue, and lack of regular spa amenities. The four seasons is about the same price, but the Spa of Sedona had won me with their "outdoors", so I chose them. Again, the treatments were fine, but the whole experience left me with a bit with a bait and switch feeling. I will not go back. On a positive note, my daughter and I had a good laugh, and now I know to ask if a spa has showers, and they actually have a view!...
Read moreI’d been talking with a friend about how tense I’ve been feeling lately, and how I needed to make time to have a little spa day when I could. I was fortunate to be gifted an experience through this thoughtful friend & im so glad I made it in today. I received a deep tissue massage from Aly, who made sure to explain exactly what that would be like and that I was comfortable. During the session, I couldn’t help but to notice all of the resistance and tension that was lingering in my body. As Aly worked with me, I could feel her scanning for all of those super tense areas & then skillfully pressing to relieve years and years of pent up tension. The more we encounter day to day stress without properly allowing it to dissipate, the more we store the tension in our bodies. Today this was all brought to my awareness without Aly needing to even verbalize it. So much of life requires us to simply surrender, letting go of the habit of resisting—and today allowed me to remember this truth as Aly worked away some of that built up tension from being in a constant state of unconscious resistance. The staff, from the owner to the spa coordinator who welcomes you, are all friendly and the spa is kept very clean. Would most definitely recommend you make this your spa of choice...
Read moreTHE SHAMAN ANDREA ROCKS!
I've been working in professional and personal development for over 30 years. I've been growing my understanding of body work for at least the last decade.
A recent loss led me to 'go get a massage', and I am SO thankful!
During our first interaction, Andrea walked into the wonderful massage room and did that 'normal thing' - "Is there any areas you're particularly interested in working today?"
My response: "I'm going through loss recovery, and I'm hurting. How spiritual are you?"
Andrea grew to about 7 feet tall, rolled her shoulders back, and said: "I'm a Shaman."
She changed my life!
I've had multiple massages now from Andrea and her gifts are INCREDIBLE! She's able to find, and gently exercise the body's stored energy in ways I've never experienced before, or since, in any way shape or form.
Andrea is TRULY a gifted, talented, and CONNECTED human being!
I can not recommend visiting Spa of Sedona, and specifically requesting Andrea - and if you're aware of your body's energy challenges, give them whatever they ask for and let her DRASTICALLY help you!!!
Thank you Andrea! Hope to see you soon!
These are some of my favorite photos of Sedona area, and what I feel when being energized by Andrea's...
