In general when leaving reviews I live by the saying "If you don't have something good to say, don't say it." I usually skip the review instead of saying something negative but in this case there are so many conflicting reviews that I feel compelled to write a review.
Long story short: The price is good and there is reasonable quantity but the flavors aren't great. My service was okay but the restaurant felt tense while I was there. The bathroom needs an air freshener.
Detailed review follows below.
There are a lot of glowing reviews for this restaurant and some terrible ones. They average to the middle. Reading them I would gather the food was incredible or terrible and service was abysmal or the best ever.
My rating of two stars reflects three things:
Taste - The flavors were not great. Certainly not authentic curries. Quantity - There was a reasonable quantity of food on the buffet. (As any long distance backpacker knows, quantity matters when you eat). Price - Good, especially for an all you can eat buffet in Sedona.
Unfortunately the flavor of the food wasn't great. When the pickled carrots are hotter than the Vindaloo curry something isn't right.
Some additional thoughts on my meal:
The vegetable pakora was average. A little too crispy. The carrot halwa was excellent. Nice flavor. The pickled carrots were delicious. Wonderfully spicy. The lamb Vindaloo lacked flavor. I'm not sure what curry it was served with but it wasn't Vindaloo. The Chicken Tikka was borderline. It needed a richer flavor. It had a slight after taste. The Tandoori chicken was too well done and dry. The Aloo Gobi was average.
Overall I'm disappointed to say that the food didn't live up to my expectations. It was colorful, looked nice on the plate but was not flavorful. The price was okay and the 2nd star represents the quantity of food I was able to eat. If you are looking for quantity at a good price this restaurant is an option. If you want a flavorful meal I would...
Read moreI cannot comment on the food because twice in one day they refused to serve us. We got there today 7/2/2022 at 2:30 and they said they close from 3:30 -4:30 pm. They said they had to close early. So we decided to go to dinner there and got there at 8:15 pm. The guy said sorry we stop seating at 8:30pm I said it’s only 8:15 pm and then he said we are running out of food. I realized they did not want to serve anymore and they were not even busy. They said the same thing to the other family waiting behind us. The staff seemed lazy and seemed more interested in going home rather than serving customers and making money for the restaurant. I now have read other reviews and it seems that this restaurant thrives on turning away customers. They should just put a permanent closed sign as they don’t ever seem to be open to taking customers.
I will also file a complaint with city as they are falsely advertising hours of operation and this is bad for tourists that not only rely on their timings and website regarding their hours, when people show during those hour they cannot even honor them. I have never ever in my life been told that at a restaurant that they ran out of food. We live in the land of abundance and how can a restaurant in America run out of food. It’s clear they just did not want serve customers and can’t figure out why they are still open.
If you want Indian food in Sedona don’t go there just goto flagstaff, even though it is far you will at least get to eat according to the hours that the restaurants post. Just terrible and can’t believe that the owners have not addressed this issue as others have had similar experiences. Which tells me that the owners probably don’t care either. Being turned away twice in one day I was so mad and usually I don’t write reviews at all but this is by far the worst experience I have ever had.
Don’t go here you will certainly be...
