I dislike this place. I have lived almost all over the country. My first problem with them is the deposit. I went in and based off my credit score I either have to have a 100 dollars deposit or I don't. Seriously? I lived in knox all I had was a "turn on" fee. 2nd I am on the prepaid meter because I choose that due to me and my partner not being home all of the time. Figure i will put money down and when I am not home I do not get cha4ge as much outside my fridge running. My daily average for the winter (only thing I had running was lights to see, the TV, and coffee) no heat or anything and I was charged 5 dollars a day.
I call and they said was average for the winter. My neighbors who are nothe prepaid said they get charged more for use in winter. Again. Seriously? Customer service I went to go and change from prepaid to billing and they did not like the fact I was. I said I do not like being charged high daily fees for not being home. They said it does not matter it is a average. They neither wanted to help understand nor cared. Then I asked why do people get charged a fee to use their debt cards when in this day and age people pay visa wise. There response was use then, even after explaining my bank is 30 minuets away from town. To me it is robbing but that is a allegation I won't say because I should of done my research before moving to servierville
I will he leaving this may and can not wait. This electric company is a joke and "bless your heart" should be...
Read moreThere is no doubt this area must be challenging to maintain and restore power. HOWEVER... at some point SCES needs to, should seek to update their systems and be more proactive. We've lived here over 20 years and response time for power outages has always been poor.
If you know a storm is coming, why not contact other companies and set up potential help if needed? Especially if you are understaffed to begin with. Why not improve your online systems so you can let customers know whats going on? Check out Duke Energy in SC. They have a wonderful system of keeping customers informed. Information is key to helping people stay calm and hopeful.
There is no easy solution but .... Update your response systems! Staff appropriately and be proactive for an emergency situation Communicate better with your customers Tell us how you prioritize response. Its frustrating to be without power for 3 days and look out and see the cabins in the mountains have power and you dont. And... what about the elderly? Do you think they have cell phones? Do you think they are always capable of firewood etc.? What about ems situations? Maybe we could be more human and less about money!
Sevierville has many wonderful qualities but this situation doesn't seem to have grown and updated...
Read moreSCES - 8 properties - 12 years. When you have a cabin full of guests who are without power, there are few things more frustrating. This is my experience. SCES does a remarkable job. The way in which power is restored follows a specific plan. Main lines and large outages are fixed first to get as many people back online as possible. Depending on the location of your property, (as I know, some of mine are on the end of the line) you may have to wait quite a while when there is a major outage. In recent years SCES has cleared tree's back from many of the main lines to improve service. Overall I believe they do an exceptional job given the circumstances. Welcome to the mountains! If you can not due without power, I recommend you purchase a generator. The deposits are because they got burned during the last housing down turn when so many people with great credit filed BK. Life in the mountains is wonderful. Business is great. Relax and enjoy...
