Disgraceful facilities for this price range. I've travelled for many decades all over the world (50+ countries). Anyone who gives this a high rating was either staying in a self contained RV or hasn't travelled enough to compare price range for facilities. The only thing worth a star is the location. I booked late one evening because I was desperate for a shower, but only 2 old concrete showers and 2 flushing toilets to service hundreds of sites. No shower room heating, and the shower water was barely warm. There's no payment or keypad entry for the shower, like you'd expect for a paid site, so why bother overpaying for such a poorly serviced campground? Why not just shower and move on to a nice cheap forestry site? If you're in the William tent area you get to use nasty portaloos, or face a long walk to use the flushing toilets. I found out thee next day, if you want a decent shower and don't need a formal tent site, the harbour master near the visitors centre has decent facilities with a...
Read moreThis is typically a very crowded campground any day of the summer, although in 2020, the capacity was reduced by half due to COVID-19, which added more room. Not all spots have hookups, including about half of the bay-front row. The bike/footpath running along the shoreline and in front of the front row connects you down to either the Sea Life Center Area, or the Small Boat Harbor. Seals, sea lions and otters frequent the bay right in front of the campground. Fire rings are available between the bike path and shore, and are first come first serve (there are usually plenty of fire rings for everyone). RV dump site is available just north of the camground for a separate $5 fee, about a minute away. As of Summer of 2020, reservations can be made no more than 30 days out from departure date, and that option is recommended. Prior to 2020, sites were first come,...
Read moreHonestly, most of the campground is alright, even though it’s pretty heavily overcrowded for the good parts of the year. The oceanfront and city conveniences make it fairly worthwhile for the money. But if you end up doing a last minute booking and you’re only stuck with anything from 1000 on, I’d find somewhere else if I were you. Even being a bit further out of town is probably more desirable. From camp spot 1000 and on, you’re essentially stuck between an apartment place and a parking lot with no tables, and no campfires allowed. It’s just a big dirt lot. It still costs the same amount as the rest of the camping lots, but it’s only for half of the attraction. Anyway, if you’re late in the registration game, save your money and go...
