Went in today for highlights. Explained to the stylist that I wanted a lot of blonde highlights. After showing me a sample I told her it was to dark that I wanted full head of blonde, blonde highlights. I emphasize my desire by telling her beach blonde. Thinking she finally understood what I wanted she proceeded. 2.5 hours later I end up with color thatās some warm brownish toneā¦.not blonde as I had requested. I told her the color was wrong, she did nothing to try and correct her mistake, in fact she over charged me by 45 dollars by tacking on a blow drying fee which I refused to pay so she removed it. (45.00 to blow dry hair??? Are you nuts? I would never pay someone to blow dry my hair) I let the girls up front know I was unhappy with the results to no avail. After I got home I called the customer service number to complain, supposedly they will email later with a compensation. Your hairdresser should listen to what you want and proceed accordinglyā¦not just do whatever they want Addendum: I spoke with Natalie who claimed to be the store managerā¦she offered me a āglossingā for my hair. I refuse to let Ulta service any of my salon needs. I asked to be refunded my money and she refused. I called customer service the same day my hair was ruined and complained. Natalie tried to tell me I waited 3 weeksā¦untrue. I put the ball in their court the very afternoon my hair was ruined. This is not an upstanding salon and they refuse to make good on their products. If you value your hair stay away from Ulta salon. I will be calling customer service once again to speak with Kelly who is a supervisor over Natalie. People think they can get away with horrible service, itās a shame how customers are treated without respect :Adding to my review⦠After speaking to customer service again Ulta refused to do anything to fix my hair other than add a toner. I told them I would not let them put chemicals on my hair again. Today on September 14th 2024 I received a call with a voicemail mail from Natalie basically telling me their salon could no longer serve my needsā¦.š¤£š¤£ as if I would ever go back to Ulta. Donāt flatter yourself Natalie⦠there are plenty of salons in the area that would be happy to have my business and Iām sure they would listen to what Iām requesting them to do. Your salon has been very unprofessional in my case and I will make sure that anyone asks I will tell them to stay far away from your in store salon. I have an addendum : I was finally able to get my color corrected. I went to CARMEN CARMEN ! in South Park mall. The beautician there let me know that Ulta could of corrected my hair very easily by lifting it more, of course Ulta offered nothing. The reviews for this location seemed pretty good, so we went for it. Just a simple lob cut with some swoopy long curtain bangs. Mailin (I'm sure I'm butchering her name, I do NOT remember how it was spelled) did a horrible job on my daughter's hair. She already had a little anxiety about cutting it. I looked over at one point and it was super cute and I looked back over again and it was hideous. My daughter said at one point the said she had to cut it shorter to meet the layers she had cut? My daughter immediately started to cry but tried to hide it from Mailin. I'm sure she could tell my daughter was upset because she was crying. Anyways she printed my ticket and I paid and got out immediately so she could cry in peace in the car. It just so happened Mailin was parked right beside us and I know she saw my daughter crying and heard her saying she hated it. My daughter immediately said, I look like Jodie Foster off the old Freaky Friday....and honestly, she did. I typically return items quickly, but I had surgery/illness and had to return in the 31-60 day period for a merchandise credit. The store associate said this Ulta does not accept returns after 30 days. I contacted customer service to inquire about a mail-in return and they said restricting returns to 30 days is against Ulta policy and I should have been allowed to return the product for a merchandise credit.
Edit 8/24/2025: We were told differently in store regarding the merchandise credit, so perhaps store customer service needs to be re-trained on this. We had product in package and receipt. We were able to return it to another store and they did an incident report due to my skin reaction to the product. We will not be returning to the Shallotte store due to the wrong information given and lack of concern, but thank you for...
