Did a few laps at 6am with Phyllis and Gertie, arms t-rexed up into my pits and pumpin twice as fast as my legs. I wore a new headband that I was a little nervous to try but Gertie said 'Don't you worry about what those kids over at Hoover's Karate Dojo and Asian Market think, wear it proud and brag about it to Phyllis! You know she hates when one of us gets anything new, old buzzard anyway' so I says to heck with it I'm wearing it. Oh boy the look on Phyllis's face when I put it on and started stretching, it was worth a crisp dollar from the Reagan era if it was worth a lick I tell you! So anyways we get to walking and I can just see the jealousy pluming from her head like an old steam engine chugging around the benches and fake plants as we went along by the theater. I could swear she was trying to break off from the pack and get a good distance between herself and the pair of us. Her plan wasn't going so well considering she's a stiff, achy 71 and I'm freshly 37, and old Gertie is fit as a tennis pro! Anywho, Phyllis said a whole bunch of stuff I'm probably glad I couldn't hear under her breath, and slowed down to all but a crawl coming around the coin store. Gertie and I matched her pace and asked what all the grumbling was and she says I kid you not 'you know...when you put that headband on earlier? Yeah you forgot to NOT do that. Ugly as Gerties dog, it is. Sheesh.' Well Gertie damn near painted the ceiling with her own head and a boatload of steam after that comment, Ive never seen mad happen so fast on someone nearing 70 years, or any years for that matter. Maybe a time or two comes close, but none past the mark. Aaaaaaannnnyyyyyywhhhoooo Gertie had had quite enough and was now walking the total opposite direction, leaving me to finish the last mile with ol' Greasewheels and her bag of insults. I says enough of this I'm going home to invent emojis of gradually shrinking letters so people can simulate trailing off with mindless chatter in print...or is it type......
Read moreI love this mall and this part of town! About 10 to 15 years ago the Western Mall was kind of on life support. there wasn't much going on in there and it seemed like the hallways were filled with "walkers" who were trying to stay in shape and stay out of the weather. Since then there has been a ton of really fun stores added and a giant makeover for the entire Mall has been applied. Of course Scheels is awesome especially being an athlete. but there are also some new fun restaurants there including some favorites like HuHot and Potbelly's. I would highly recommend you take another look at this mall if you haven't been there lately! You may find your Christmas shopping to be much more enjoyable and not come home with the same thing everybody else found at...
Read moreScheels, is a very nice store! We live out of state, so my husband wanted to pick up some Vikings gear while we were in town. They had a huge selection. Not just Vikings, but other teams and local college clothing, decals, mugs, etc. The store is huge and even has a ferris wheel. I didn't shop much myself, but the women's section was really big and had some really nice things. Someone came by to see if we needed any help, which was nice. The only downside was the prices. They are very high and sales didn't seem too plentiful. But, if you need some sports items, outdoorsy, athletic clothing and like a big, clean store, this...
