I usually don’t post public reviews, but I needed to in this case. I’m traveling for business and staying in Sioux Falls for a few days. I found Taphouse 41 on a restaurant search and drove down to give it a try.
Within about 15 minutes of me sitting down, it was nearly at capacity. I noticed they were only three people working, two in the front of house, and one in the back. I have to say that it was a rough experience from a customers perspective from a speed of service and level of attention that one should get for any sit down restaurant establishment. But it was no fault of the employees. It was extremely busy for only three employees working. They were doing the best they absolutely could.
I have to specifically call out Isaac, who was working in the kitchen. Tickets kept printing and he just kept going. I sat near the kitchen and watched him work through it all. He was doing everything he could to get food out to the dining area, but it was impossible for one person to do that without slowing things down. Before I left, I made sure to let him know that he had made me one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while.
I know that Covid has created some staffing challenges in restaurants, but I feel that there could’ve been some better support for the staff. I got the vibe that this is been more “The norm” than the exception as of late. These three Taphouse 41 employees went above and beyond to make sure that every guest had the best experience they possibly could under the...
Read moreMixed reviews after our last visit. We went on a Saturday night, so we knew it would be busier. My wife and I showed up at 8pm and ever table was full. Unfortunately, there is no hostess, so you just stand at the entrance staring at everyone trying to figure out who might be done first. After about 15 minutes we got a table. The service was great but the food was very sub par for Taphouse. I had been there 3 our 4 times before as was very pleased. The burgers don't come with a side as the duck fat french fries are never good. I would recommend getting a few sides and splitting them family style with your party. The whiskey onion rings are very good. I had the PBR burger and it was extremely bland despite having 75 ingredients on it. My wife had the Q burger and thought the ingredients didn't really meld well together. I have previously had the Egg Burger and am sad I deviated from it. A few years ago I remember writing a review on Facebook stating that the Egg Burger was in the top 5 burgers I have ever had. Tonight didn't stack up. After the 2 sides, 2 burgers as 2 beers our bill was $46. I would be very pleased had we not had a gift card that needed to be used.
TL;DR don't go when it's busy. Don't get the fries. Get the onion rings and egg burgers. Great selection for beer snobs and bourbon enthusiasts. Great vibe and no one...
Read moreThe burgers are always almost delicious and I have been here 20+ times with a punch card as well almost filled out. The reason for the poor review is due to the fact that the service has been declining and I came in on 02/01/17 at 8:30pm and there were maybe ten tables at most. We waited 20 minutes to even get greeted by a person and even heard the wait staff talking about us. One girl, with her hat backwards, literally talked to the booth behind us and only strictly helped them and then proceeded to sit behind the bar when there was already a bar person handy. The male waiter who helped us asked us our drink orders, again after 20 minutes, and then left us again. He was able to bus three tables off and a table was able to get their order and eat it and he was able to help a table get their to go order before even helping us again. We waited a total for 45mins to even get our food order and now waiting another 15-20 for our food to get here. There were only 4 tables left by the time we even got our food. This should not happen at that late of the hour. The wait staff has seriously declined. Theres only one good waiter out of the bunch that are here. The girl that refused to help us, who even made eye contact with me, is now sitting at the bar...
