I went in to buy a firearm — but walked away with nothing except the lesson that trusting the wrong business can cost you.
On July 11, I saw an online deal for a SIG Sauer P365XL: original price $769.99, discounted to $451.97. I visited the store and confirmed I wanted to buy it.
The staff submitted my ATF Form 4473, which came back as “Delayed.” I offered to pay in advance to hold the gun, but the staff clearly told me:
“No need. We will hold the firearm for 30 days until you get the background check result.”
Three days passed — no calls, no emails. I went back in person. The same staff member said the check was still delayed, and again told me:
“Don’t worry. We will hold the gun for 30 days.”
Then… nothing. No phone call. No email. No notification at all for over 20 days.
On August 3, I returned to the store again. This time, another employee helped me. He looked it up and said: 👉 My background check had already been approved. 👉 They “tried calling me but couldn’t reach me.” 👉 The gun was sold to someone else.
I was shocked. I asked:
“Wasn’t I told it would be held for 30 days?” He replied: “We only hold it for 15 days.”
This is a total breach of promise. Three separate times, I was clearly told the gun would be held for 30 days. Yet behind the scenes, they quietly changed it, never notified me, and sold the gun.
It makes me wonder — was this because it was a deeply discounted item that they didn’t want to honor? Or worse, was this because I’m Asian, and they simply didn’t care about my purchase?
I won’t make assumptions. But I will say this: The way this store handled my case felt unfair, deceptive, and dishonest.

I got an email notification that my order was ready for pickup. Very excited, I promptly headed to the store and drove over an hour to do so. Once I arrived, I headed to the gun counter to patiently wait in line (for approximately 20 minutes) since there were 2 customers in front of me.
Once it was my turn to approach the employee at the gun counter, I was told “sorry, we’re closed for all new orders”. I politely explained that I was simply picking up and had already placed order, and was told the same answer. I was appalled. It was 5:31pm and the employee told me that cutoff for pickups is 5:30pm. Nowhere in the pickup email did it say that, and I also didn’t observe anywhere on the website that stated that particular policy.
I walked away, extremely upset, and then decided to go back to ask the employee once more if I could pick up. He explained that due to ATF wait times with background checks, it could take up to 40 minutes. Right then was an opportunity to go the extra mile and show great customer service to try to do what he could to avoid inconveniencing a customer.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially after all of the great reviews I read on Google. More importantly, I wouldn’t wish this on any other customer. I will NOT be purchasing a firearm through this...

I made a comment and a female employee in the vicinity heard and for some reason she felt the need to correct me. I listened to what she had to say, but did not want to engage in a back and forth conversation with her because I could tell she just wanted to be right and ridicule me for what I said. I continued to talk to James and she came back stating she looked it up and what I said was “bologna”, she felt the need to be loud to get others people’s attention. I tried to keep talking to James and completely ignored her but she kept talking to me so I gave her a few seconds of my life and asked her what was her objective. She realized I was not interested in what she had to say, since she was not professional at all, and went away but continued to run her mouth in the background as if she needed to prove something.
