I've just completed reading all the reviews. I was new to rc cars and just got into them March of this year when covid started and most everything I enjoyed was shutdown. Im a drag racer in a real car but most tracks were extremely limited and lost sponsors due to pandemic. That being said I decided to get into some rc trucks and street eliminator drag. I live in chocowinity nc and we have a decent small hobby shop. Ive always been loyal to wherever I buy things and like to shop local. I was furloughed at the end of March this year so have plenty time on my hands. My local shop had been busy and sold out of most things. I decided to ride out to Hobby Nook and look around. Now remember I said I buy most everything locally at our small but usually very well stocked with quality rc vehicles and parts but due to being so busy last few months their inventory has been depleted. I ordered on line for some items but 90% of the time I get it at my local Southside Hobby store or have them order it. More times than not when my local store either has it in stock or has to order it in they put a cheaper price on it than I can get online. One day recently I was looking a slash 2wd vxl. Checked with my local shop and they were out but Christian called Hobby Nook to see if they had it and they did. So I loaded up and went to Hobby Nook. When I walked in I was greeted with a hello and asked if I needed assistance, which they sent as soon as one of thier associates were freed up from helping a customer, I was very satisfied with that answer. While waiting for associate I browsed around and came close to wanting to buy way to many of thier vehicles they had in stock. Ive gone to most all the rc shops local to me and they all were almost completely out of rtr, kits, and most any other type of rc. I was looking on internet forums while waiting for a sales associate to come assist me. While reading through forums I realized and determined that due to the pandemic and limited ways of enjoying something to feel normal again that the rc field blew up on every platform. So its hard to find certain things and when I did the prices were definitely considered gouging. I did not find that to be true at hobby Nook. Once sales associate was finished and came over to me he was extremely patient and helpful. Me being new to rc world he picked up on that quickly so he asked me what I was looking, terrain it would be on mostly etc. After I gave him all that info he took me over to the cars at a lower price point and explained that it would be better to get something like that as a beginner and that there were many upgrades available that could get me the speeds I was looking at a very reasonable price. I have a traxxas rustler 4x4 vxl and due to that rc I am very fond of traxxas. I explained that to him so off we went over to all the traxxas units. He was helpful in showing me the most economical way to purchase the things I needed to buy in order to build my slash/bandit vxl street eliminator drag car. While helping me he was interrupted by customers multiple times asking questions and quickly pointed them towards the correct area and returned to helping me. So now since I didn't start until I was furloughed back in March 2020 I have jumped right in the rc world and I drag race with several guys in my area, I run 4x4 vxl around the house with my kids and we have a ball. I said all that to make a point. The rc world has blown up since pandemic has gotten spread so bad that its hard to find rc vehicles. So please think of that before you put a negative review and cause this place to lose buisness. They are doing the very best during this pandemic time. I will be headed there today myself to get some things and I know I will be treated with respect. So know all facts before using 1⭐ review because I found if I showed respect to them they would go out there way to help. I started in March with no rc cars now I own 26 rc cars/trucks, 5 drones and 1 plane lol. I have plenty to occupy my time and hobby Nook has helped tremendously. They are fair...
Read morePurchased an rc car from this place for my husband for his birthday spent 224.00 and when we took it home it wouldnt start the glow igniter has fallen apart it was spitting gas out the side and the top of the motor. So naturally I called to see if someone would be able to explain to me why I was having the issue and they stated that there is only one person who is the owner that can answer and of my questions and that he would try to call him and give him my information I never got a call back. After 9.5 hours of trying to get the car to crank ot started and ran for about 20 minutes and stopped working. The next day I called and left my information again and still no return back. So I then on my only day off drove the hour back to the shop to be told that that owner still was not available (after being told that he would be available) finally I get a call back and he was rude and unwilling to even look at the car without charging me 20.00 an hour!!! Then tells me that because it was used the glow igniter was not able to be replaced either. I wouldnt recommend this business to anyone and if you want an rc car buy online! They are rude and unwilling to try to explain or help with...
Read moreWent in on Sunday and not that many people shopping with three employees behind the counter not helping anyone but working on projects. Walked around looking and say the place was packed with merchandise. Seems like I nice place but the employees never asked if I needed some help or even seem to notice me looking at the rc cars. I still purchase something and the gentleman that check me out barely said anything to me. Might stop there again to see if it’s a bad day for them. I like spending my money in local small businesses but I do believe in customer service. After I wrote the first part, the owner did respond which made me happy to hear, so I decided I would go back. When I went back on a Sunday, I was greeted and helped with the problem I had with my rc car, believe it was owners son that helped me, showed me how to fix the problem next time and also give me some advice. Truly the customer service I like and will be a...
