On Friday, August 14, my wife and I stayed at your Smithfield, NC property, one that you had recently acquired from another chain. ||First, I’m sure you’ll be happy to know that our room was clean and welcoming, the beds comfortable. ||It was also good to see one of the former desk persons, Mike, whom we had known in two other previous visits. Mike is an asset to your business. ||However, we were quite disappointed that many amenities we enjoyed from the previous owner were painfully lacking in this Spark property. ||1st, we stay in Smithfield to break up our annual trip from Scranton, PA to North Myrtle Beach. We prepare and freeze food like lasagna and eggplant parm for our large extended family to enjoy there. In the past, the refrigerators there could accommodate 8 large Pyrex dishes of food. Your “new and improved” dinky fridges could only handle 3. Big problem. ||Secondly, as my wife required a special diet, we bring dinner items to microwave for her. When I was told there was only one common microwave that everyone uses, I had to trek my wife’s meal to the lobby, a clear and wholly unnecessary inconvenience. ||The disappointments continued in the paucity of breakfast items available. I had become accustomed to the eggs, bacon, freshly made waffles, and sausages featured in previous visits to this venue. What did Spark offer? Bagels, muffins, and some fresh fruit. That was it. Again, this was as disappointing as it was unsatisfying. ||And in what world are there no electrical outlets in the bathroom? Yours, apparently. ||Look. If this were Motel 6 or a Red Roof Inn, I’d understand. After all, you get what you pay for. ||We paid $184.28. Clearly, we did NOT get what we paid for. We expected Hilton family value. What we received didn’t even rise to what one would expect from an aforementioned Motel 6. ||We gave you an opportunity to earn our business. You failed. Miserably. ||Patrick...
Read moreI'm not real big on leaving reviews but when you enter an establishment the first person you interact with let's you know how things will go and with this being said is the reason I am leaving my review . We were driving back from FL to NJ and just needed a place to sleep until we continued our trip home so my husband found this place on line we booked and arrived . He went in and he came out so happy he said Wow her customer service was really great she was so friendly so caring made him feel at home . So now he's at the car we are grabbing our bags we head inside and she welcomed us with such a warm heart ❤️ she was so happy and asking as questions asked how we were doing offered us some goodie bags and told us if we needed anything feel free to let her know . We headed up to our room and was so surprised how clean and cute the room was I just had to call the front desk and let her know how happy we were with our room she was so happy and bubbly. So I'm not sure who goes over these reviews but one thing I will say I do hope that AMBERS Boss reads this review and realizes that he has an excellent employee at his establishment and she definitely makes you feel very welcomed which is very important . So thank you so much AMBER if we take another road trip we will definitely stay again ❤️❤️ ( Thanks for the compliment on my hair ☺️ the long teal &...
Read moreThis hotel used to be a Best Western but was rebranded. The public area and my room was reasonably clean. The house cleaning staff needs to pay more attention to the details, like flushing the toilet after cleaning it.|I checked in online but never received my digital key. When I got to the desk I spoke with a man who appeared to be bothered by my being there. I told him that I checked in online but did not receive my digital key. I was told that the digital key system does not work. The desk staff asked for my credit card and ID. Upon presenting them, he made a copy of my ID. I asked what was his company's privacy policy and I was rudely told "we can do whatever we want since we're only one location." I was told that if I had an issue to take it up with Mike Patel in the morning. I asked what time does Mike usually get in and the reply was "in the morning."||Based on how I was treated by the staff at this location, I will pass on staying here again. There are too many other hotels in the area to be treated as...
