TJ Maxx in Beverly Hills disappoints me every time. Let's focus on the positive. The staff here are helpful and friendly. Its strong suits are the sections for jewelry, candles, bath and body supplies, and occasionally housewares. With diligence, you can find some literal gems in here, especially when they stock holiday items for the first time.
For shoppers used to expansive TJ Maxxes, you'll soon discover the frustration of limited stock, weird sizes, and never finding what you're looking for. This TJ doesn't compare to Chicagoland or West Coast stores, bar none. I leave empty-handed more often than not because they simply don't have what I'm looking for -- longer t-shirts, measuring cups, size 10 shoes, anything for boys.
If you're in the larger sizes, don't even bother. The store predominantly stocks XS, S, and M. Practically no shoes come in over size 8.5/9, and those which do are a paltry selection. Menswear has a slightly better range in clothes, but no shoes. The kid's/baby section is a total waste of time for me. Unless you want sweatpants for your boy, they never have coats, shirts, jeans or shorts in stock. Ever. I don't know if there's a total lack of interest on part of their supplier or no available clothes, but this has been happening for ages.
The other sections, like housewares, are totally hit and miss. Sometimes I can find cute kitchen gadgets, but most of the time, it's a cluttered selection of one-offs like can openers. Don't bother coming here for cutlery or knives; go to Homegoods with a wider range. Also, expect long lines most...
Read moreI came here to grab something quick with my friend and there was a man at the cash register who was checking people out. He helped everyone ahead of me and as soon as it was my turn he pretended to be busy so he did not have to help us. I wear a hijab so I'm visibly Muslim and he did not want to check me out. I waited longer than 5 min in line and it kept getting longer behind me, but he still would not call next, hoping for someone else to check me out. My friend and I ended up leaving our items and walking out. As soon as we passed his register he went to the cash register and called for the next customer. I have never been so blatantly discriminated against and will never step foot into this location again. I called to speak to a manager and the assistant manager (who was apologetic for this man's behavior) let me know that he was in fact a manager which made the situation worse. Very disappointed in this type of behavior especially in this...
Read moreHorrible, horrible customer service. I had to return a pair of shoes because they were too large. The cashier was rude from the get-go. Then, she thought their was an issue with the shoes. The cashier got their "manager" and said they would not return my shoes because said they looked "well worn," even though I purchased them one week prior from the Auburn Hills store and didn't wear them. They told me to take them back to the TJ Maxx outlet at the mall. Um.. you're part of the same company. Very rude and what a horrible attitude!!
Ended up selling the shoes online and making a profit from them. So much for the shoes being "well-worn...." This isn't Saks Fifth Avenue, it's a T.J. Maxx. Get over yourself.
Will not be returning and will tell others not to shop here. The Yelp reviews are more accurate - they do not accept returned items/goods. That is poor...
