Southington Store has a history of four walls of guitars, alll out of tune. That's when they had a Guitar Service Station (manned/unmanned) . Today Station gone?, all but 6 acoustics are under lock and key. Two of the six have broken strings, 2 of the 4 remaining are remarkably, in tune, likely by customers.
During recent October purchase, with only one other customer in store, We were in plain view of Southington Store Manager from office. We were front and center and ignored for 10 mins, then assisted by the Manager once he had a counterperson in the saddle. Likely waited for the counterperson to return from break or come on shift. He assisted us with the shelved PA, then brought the item and I over to their Closer (an overzealous counterman bent on bottomline/commissons).who appeared suddenly, like the budding enterpriser was beamed down from the Enterprise. We were in the neighborhood, so we stopped in. I thought I left GC Store Card at home. I often leave ancillary cards, I rarely use, at home. I wanted to place the purchase on my GC account as I only had a $30 balance on my account. The counter person was happy to look up and verify. He said the good news was that he was able to verify me and my account, the bad news he proclaimed, was that my GC Account was CLOSED due to lack of use. I admit, the last GC Account purchase was just under/over a year. He said "no problem" we can get you approved for a New account". Visibly perplexed and doubtful about what I was told, I pulled my Discover CC from wallet. He went on to say, it would be of no detriment to my credit if I applied for GC Account again. There would be no hard pull is only half truth. When he was done Hard pulling my leg, Synchrony would again be Hard-pulling my credit again, if I ok'd the go ahead w/new account. Why would they close an account that still carried a current balance, and not notify the Account holder, directly?! Thanks but, No Thanks!, Know all about Soft Pull/No Pull vs Pull the trigger on the new account which Hard Pulls your credit. That's funny, the twenty something trying to bamboozle the 50 something into thinking . "I can get a New GC Store Account with no Hard pull".
Anyone that shops at Brick n Mortor Retail, likely know by now, that Cashiers and Counterpersons are often incentivised by getting the customer to Use or Apply for their Store Account.. But when they misinform you and fraudulently try to wreck your credit, while getting another "Atta-Boy" for selling another GC Store Account. I take issue with that. Imagine the mess, and the Domino effect, Fraud Alerts, Credit Card Acct freezes, and thats before weeks, perhaps months of Credit Bureau Disputes and revsions effect that might have played out, had I allowed counterperson to convince me My account closted and open another GC Store Account, while I already have one.
Once home with that purchase, I was forced to place on another card, I touched base with Syncrony Bank. Not only was my account ACTIVE, I even INCREASED my credit limit on the ACTIVE account No Hard pull, required on an ACTIVE,CURRENT GOOD STANDING Acct due . An amazing feat with a "Closed account" Returned to the store with my GC Card in hand, and the purchase I made with Discover. Manager Said "no problem, we can refund your Discover and place the purchase on your GC account... Uhm NO Thanks, I advised him that his counterperson could have done that in the first place. I returned the Monitor unopened along with the Extended Warranty. I keep stuff, not the musician that trading up/down/ or parting/pawning out. Manager was composed and apologetic until he ultimately defended his counterperson's behavior and even went as far as to boast what kind of numbers that counterperson was doing monthly. How by fleecing customers or by genuinly working your tail off? You were doing so good, until you let that cat out of the bag.. STAY AWAY!! I'll buy it somewhere else where the water is...
Read moreI love this place! My boys too. Some days when we are bored we go to Southington’s GC just to see what’s going on and we try always to buy something. At least it would be a pack of the guitar picks or strings. I cannot say the same for the SamAsh store like some people down below. As an example I was at SamAsh the other day to see Squier Starcaster Classic Vibe. I loved it, but I couldn’t stand the attitude of that sales person. So, instead to buy it from them I decided to go to my favorite place - Guitar Center in Southington and buy it (order) from them. There was my favorite salesman Ray, which I know since the time when he was working at GC Orange, CT, when I bought my first Strat from him. Ever since Ray sold me total of four wonderful guitars. He is always super nice and very helpful. I would say that most of those guys are very friendly and willing to help, and if there is someone with that lousy attitude I could imagine those younger kids which still need some experience in working with the people (customers). Guys like Ray or Mike are the roll models to all new employees how to treat the customers. Other than that I recommend this place to...
Read moreI went to this store to buy some new locking tuners for my guitar. The salesperson there recommended one of the more expensive sets they had, saying they would be perfect for my guitar. I bought them with the intention of putting them on myself. I didn't realize (nor was I told) that I needed to drill into the headstock of my guitar to insert these tuners. Since I wasn't comfortable doing this myself, I brought my guitar and the tuners back to GC to the guitar tech, so he could put them on for me.
When he was registering my guitar into the system for repair, not only did he try to charge me again for the tuners, but he registered my guitar as a Les Paul instead of an ES-339, which caused some confusion among the employees there.
A few days later, I got a call back from the guitar tech. He told me that he would not recommend inserting these tuners on this guitar and they were not the right tuners for the guitar. Naturally I was not happy with the customer service here since the salesperson just tried to sell me the more expensive tuners, not taking into account that they were the wrong tuners...
