I am not a vegan however, I am doing a meat detox for the foreseeable future.
So my review:
The restaurant has a limited menu howver, everything I ordered was made from scratch (except the French fries). All of the food was made with care, simple things such as adding foil to the bottom of a styrofoam container to prevent melted plastic toxins from getting into the food shows the level of care taken in it's preparation.
The restaurant currently is only doing take out something I suggest they update as I feel this is limiting business. The interior is spotless and I have no doubt the ingredients used was fresh and I suspect the kitchen looked just as clean.
I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries ($12), an emoanadilla ($4) and a pumpkin Jamaican patty ($6)
The chicken(less) sandwich had a great flavor and a perfect amount of toppings. The breading on the sandwich was light and I believe it to be pan fried. The French fries were cooked in the same oil as the empanadas and Jamaican patties which gave them a slight spice which enhanced their flavor.
The pumpkin party was a pleasant surprise. I am used to sweet based pumpkin foods and this slightly spicy savory patty had an excellent flavor and the pastry was perfectly prepared.
The empanada also had a great flavor however it did feel more heavy. The black bean based filling also had a great flavor.
I would say that my only complaint from the order is that the roll used for the chicken(less) patty was a little thick which made it harder to taste the party which is the star of the show. Also the owner should consider adding a other low cost side along with the fries to add some more volume to the order (maybe some rice).
The price was decent. This is about what one would pay at any casual restaurant.
I highly suggest giving this place a try as all of the food items I tried...
Read moreThe best vegan food in the universe. My friend got the fried "chicken" sandwich. It was whole oyster mushrooms still connected in a cluster batter fried. The batter was so fricken good. It was crispy and perfectly stuck to the mushrooms. Each bite was crispy and juicy. The batter did not slide off the mushrooms. The texture and taste were almost indistinguishable from chicken.
I got the Philly V-Steak. It was like a Philly cheese steak but with mushrooms, onions, peppers and vegan cheese. It was very good. Hot and flavorful. The grinder bun was fresh and good.
When we first arrived it almost looked closed but we walked in and were enthusiastically greeted by the owner/chef. He took our order at the register and we took our seats. It did take a while but I'm pretty sure he made the whole thing from scratch. When the food came it was scorching hot so we sat and talked while it cooled off. This was about 3pm and I had not had food since breakfast. It was a little agonizing to wait so long but let me tell you it was worth it. This food was memorable and worth traveling and waiting for. Next time I would definitely order the chicken sandwich that my friend got. The steak sandwich was good but I ate plenty of bites from the chicken sandwich and can say it was phenomenal. It was so fricken huge too. Like you can't even wrap your mouth around it comfortably. It was a tad pricey for a typical lunch but it was well worth the prices as a special treat. We were in town to see the museums. There are only a few tables but there is a counter for additional seating. Decor was nice with live plants. It was a nice atmosphere to sit and talk with my friend for a while. Not much foot traffic and no other diners. It would probably be busier during regular mealtimes.
Anyway give this place a shot. I'll be coming...

Room for improvement? Better fryer ventilation, and maybe host some type of free samples by MGM (not sure what regulations are), or share your small business story on Western Mass...
