Not a great experience. We decided to purchase a Purple mattress, and thought buying local would give us the Purple experience backed by a local company. While HOM did offer the same pricing as we would get from purple, I should have just ordered it online. Purple offers, even encourages, 30 days for bedding and 100 days for pillows to return if you aren't happy. I love the bed, but the sheets are not what we want. My wife went to HOM and tried to return the sheets 13 days after pickup and was told there are no returns on bedding or pillows. Adding that we would have to work with Purple . I had already tried Purple and they said we have to work with HOM , since purple had no information on the deal. It's too bad, but in this case we would have been better served buying online.
Update per HOM response: I'm sticking with the 1 star, and can offer a bit more detail. The fact that I like the mattress (Sorry. may have misspoke by saying 'bed') doesn't reflect on HOM, it reflects on Purple. Also, we were considering returning the Purple pillows, but obviously that is not an option, as HOM does not honor Purple's return policy. The Purple site indicates the pillow comes with boosters to insert to add thickness, but the pillows we received did not have them. Maybe they are an older version. In my case, I did not choose delivery and setup. I ordered Monday or Tuesday. Purple website indicated I could receive it on that Thursday (which would have been the quickest option). HOM said I could pick it up Friday (The only day St Cloud HOM has pickup is Friday 11-7, which seems odd), or have delivered (Monday or Tuesday the following week). Since it was only a day more and I live 4 miles away, I chose pickup at HOM instead of ordering online. The mattress arrives as a long tube, which was easy to handle and 'installation' involves simply cutting open the bag with a (Purple included) blade. The foam mattress expands into it's normal shape quite quickly. As far as the sheets. It may be just us, but they are a very stretchy material that we found ended up gripping and twisting around a lot when rolling over in bed. Every night was a battle of unwinding nearly every...
Read moreI am a recurring HOM customer and have spent many thousands of dollars at HOM Furniture in Plymouth. My recent service experience started with my mistake - I am very busy at the moment, torn between selling my home, buying a new one, packing, moving, etc. I was trying to take advantage of the sale so on the last day, I purchased four counter stools. They were special order, and would take 10 weeks; I had to put down $700. I am not new to special orders, I have done so many, many times. The issue was that when I got home and started looking at my existing furniture and considering the style of new stools, I determined that the style would just not work for me. I went back to the store two days later, not to cancel, but to have my order modified to a different style number, slightly higher in price, same manufacturer, same color, etc. I was told by Denise, my sales person, that she could cancel and that I would forfeit my $700., even if I reordered from the same manufacturer in a different style. This is only 48 hours into this transaction--no work could have been done on building the stools. I asked that she escalate to the manager (she never offered); she said she did and they too said "No" to changing the order. She said the manufacturer has already started the order and I have to forfeit the down payment and start over. She also said "that is what non-refundable means". This seems totally ridiculous to me that as a long-time standing customer, HOM could not have called the manufacturer and arranged to change the style before any work was started as an accommodation to a good long-standing customer. I am now $700 poorer just trying to get the order in before the sale ended - oh, and I was told by Denise that they have a "new sale" that I can take advantage of for my new order. I left the store in tears. Denise did not even say she was sorry, and I never saw a store manager. I will never do business at HOM Furniture in...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience so far. I received a gift of a children's bedroom bed set and it had to be special ordered. Everything was fine received it about 6 weeks later. the delivery guys came to put it together and the first screw they put in to the side rail they hit a knot in the wood and split the wood and were not able to assemble it. That's fine, accidents happen. They told me I would hear from costumer service within the next 30-60 min to explain what would happen next. Never heard from anyone, we ended up calling them 4 hours later and they had no idea what had happened. She said they would refund our delivery and try to expedite the new bed. In the meantime, we noticed a rough spot on the headboard and it bowed out a little bit so they sent out a technician to fix it but when he got here he said it looked like something fell on the headboard after they applied the sealant and it dried like that and it would be worse if he tried to fix it so he would have them order a new one and it should be here by the time the rest of the bed gets done. FIVE WEEKS LATER the side rails and other drawers were in but NEVER received anything about getting a new headboard. They said they would expedite that but we already know how long that takes so we asked to speak to the manager but the manager always seems to be in meetings when we call and we haven't heard from ANYONE since!!!! Beyond fuming and I'm ready to cancel my order but after reading another bad review I know how long it would take to get our money back! WE WILL NEVER BUY FROM THERE EVER AGAIN and trust me we have informed people of our...
