First off, the parking here sucks. You have to find a spot on the street, then pay the meter. Which is a task all in itself. I then went to pay my personal property tax, but was instructed to get a waver since they had no record of me on file. I went to the assessors office were I was instructed to sign in online. After, I did this I waited for approx 30 minutes. The lady that waited on me was very rude and the total opposite of customer service friendly. They needed my title for the car I was attempting to get plates for. Why? I'm not sure. Unfortunately, I had spilt a little something on the back of the title, so it was slightly smudged. The rude lady informed me that this was unacceptable even though I had my bill of sale and registration for a title change paperwork. She instructed me to go back to the dealership and get a notarized affidavit. This whole process was ridiculous to me just to try and pay my personal property tax which has nothing to do with me getting my car legal. Yes, it was my fault I accidentally smudged up my title. And yes the license bureau probably would have told me this to. What erks me is the rudeness of the lady and why she couldn't have given me my paperwork so I wouldn't have had to come back to this nightmare a couple days later? It always seems to me that everytime I have to deal with government employees that they always come across as rude, having a bad day, and taking it out on me. It's pretty obvious they hate their jobs, but how is that my/our fault? So, why do they always have to take their unhappiness out on us? I wonder if it's a criteria that you must be a rude person in general to get hired in these positions? Last, but certainly not least at all is; why do they get to get away with it day after day after day? Do they get bonuses or that-a-boys for treating people unjust? It's not fair period!! Update; I raised my opinion of this place to two stars. I came back 2 days later after getting the affidavit they required. It was Friday afternoon around 1pm. I waited an hour. The Que that you jump in to be called in order is a joke. The guard outside the door is either taking bribes or letting her friends and family jump the line, because on 3 occasions she let people in the office in front of people that were waiting. Once, I did get in a young lady named Amanda waited on me and was very cordial. This is the only reason I raised the score. The bottom line is; this place sucks! And it depends what clerk you get to wait on you, and what kind of day their having. Amanda, gave me no heartache what so ever, and once I made it to her, I received the paper work I needed to get my car legal. In closing, if you have to come...
Read moreEvery employee in this building is rude and doesn't want to be there. I call prior to coming in and ask for a permit. They state to have 25 dollars cash only and 4 sets of plans, spec sheets and contracts Monday-Friday 9-4:30pm. I arrive at noon on a Wednesday and am refused a permit. One of the 50 ladies in the office immediately gets an attitude with me and states ain't no one gonna get your permit you gotta come back Monday. There is a sign on the door that says all city permits are Monday and Wednesdays from 12-2:30pm. All permits from the permit office for St. Louis are given within a 2.5 hour time frame 2 times a week in an office with 50 people working.. Sounds pretty fishy to me! Also there are signs everywhere stating to get your parking validated (Including on the ticket) but no one in the entire building will validate your parking. This is why the ENTIRE city of St. Louis is failing. The Mayor obviously just wants to hand out free paychecks to uneducated ignorant seat holders who don't care about the city, the businesses or the...
Read moreThe good: The architecture is incredibly gorgeous and the inside is pretty well taken care of, though the outside could use some work (saw at least one boarded up window). Everyone that assisted me was pretty friendly and you can tell they're trying to get people to socially distance and keeping their workers behind glass when possible and requiring masks.
The bad: SO SO SO BUSY. I think I was here for over 4 hours. At least 2 hours of which was waiting outside the building in the queue. I then get called inside only to be added to another queue. And so on and so on. I have been to a different DMV office here and was in and out within an hour. And both times I've gone first thing in the morning. I had to go here to pick up a tax waiver so I didn't have much of an option, but in the future I wouldn't come back unless I had no other option. Also way too many of the employees had their noses out of their masks or even completely on their chin which...
