Vinciguerra Jewelry — Local services in St. Louis

Let me start this off by saying this: the review is a reflection of the outside jewelry repair person Vincinguerra uses to fix jewelry. This is not a direct reflection of the work done inside Vincinguerra. However, I do feel Vincinguerra is responsible, as they send their clients' jewelry to this outside repair person.

I brought my cracked, custom-made eternity band into Vincinguerra for a repair, and was told they were not able to fix the ring in-house. When I suggested that I might take the ring back and bring it to the original jeweler, I was assured that the person they work with does quality work and would fix the ring if he could. I made sure to ask that they do not work on the ring unless they were certain they'd be able to fix it. If they were not certain they could fix it, I would take it to my original jeweler.

A week later, I get a call that my ring is ready and I am told that I will not be charged for the repair. When I picked up the ring...I was in utter shock. The ring is warped, misshapen, and WORSE than it was when I brought it in. Not only that, but whatever metal was used to repair the crack DOESN'T EVEN MATCH and is clearly a much yellower hue than the rest of the ring. I am not exaggerating when I say that the ring is in much worse shape now than it was when I brought it in.

To make this even more upsetting, because of how warped and ill-repaired the ring is, I am concerned that it may be completely irreparable by its original maker. My wedding ring. My most sentimental possession in this entire world.

Devastated is a complete understatement. Angry is a complete understatement. I may never be able to wear my wedding ring again because of a jeweler who couldn't just say "I can't do this" and instead ruined my ring permanently.

Vinciguerra, the service your team provided was gracious, kind, and appreciated. This is why I have given two stars for them. However, I want to warn EVERYONE to be CAREFUL about letting Vinciguerra send your jewelry outside of their shop for repairs. If I could turn back time and have taken my ring back, I would. I am absolutely heartbroken that I can't.

Van Vinciguerra is a shady character. They have no consignment contracts and they don’t have any agreements in writing. Their fees are arbitrary and random. They take your jewelry and say they can sell it for you and will call you a day later saying they can’t anymore with no reasonable explanation. I’m not sure if they have a stone swapping scam or perhaps they steal watch parts. I dropped my Rolex off with them after they said they could sell it. Van calls me back a day later telling me he can’t sell it and to hurry and pick it up. My watch had signs of being opened and not being closed correctly. When I questioned Van he launched into this fake outrage and began to accuse me of being a scammer.I also left him 2 pairs of earrings. He was able to sell them for me one day and the next he couldn’t with no explanation. Edit: They also dinged my watch on the corner lug. DO NOT TRUST them with your items.

I have been coming to Vinciguerra's for 30 years and they truly are the best! They stand behind their jewelry and have competitive prices and world-class service . Van and the entire staff at the downtown St. Louis store are just wonderful They treat me like family and go out of their way to find just what I am looking for at that particular time. It doesn't matter if my budget is big or small, they take the time with me to ensure that I get what I need. Our engagement and wedding rings were purchased there many years ago and when needed, they have repaired them to make them as good as new. They have a wide array of watches, rings, earrings, necklaces etc to choose from. I have recommended them to my friends so many times, that I have lost count.
