De Novo Clothing Exchange — Attraction in Stroudsburg

LOVE the store and all the different options they have for dresses. Nice set up and good vibe. But HIGHLY disappointed in their Clothing Exchange program.

I called on three different occasions/times and they told me that they do both store credit and cash. Of course I’d rather have cash than store credit so I went up their per their instructions first thing in AM at 10:00 when they open; when they said they could provide cash because they haven’t met their cash cap for the day yet. I arrive this morning and was told they do not do cash and they wanted to offer me only $30 in store credit for five different quality items that were brand new with tags still on them and/or only wore once. I have tons of really nice items that I was hoping to have them take. Then to top it all off- I was told they do not do weekend clothing exchanges and that I had to come in during a weekday early; then I see their sign states “Saturdays for exchange…” ugh! :(

So in summary- really nice store and most employees but whoever I spoke to especially yesterday afternoon does not know their own store policies because she guaranteed they would be able to provide cash and told me an exact time to show up. This is hands down the nicest, most appealing consignment shop I've ever witnessed. Granted, it's strictly lady's apparel including costume jewelry and other accessories, but that adds to the overall atmosphere. The place is clean, no funky odor typical more often than not with shops of this category. The selection and diversity is excellent, to say the least, offering a little something for everyone regardless of age, image, and style preference. There are conservative options for the casual customer as well as heavy hitter brand names guaranteed to catch your attention and summon your wallet especially considering the prices are fair at worst. Everything is inspected for quality assurance before hitting the shelves and the shelves mentioned are organized with tender loving care. Staff is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, professional, and very easy to conduct business transactions with. In conclusion.... Ladies! Why are you still reading this?! Do yourselves a great service and pay De Novo a visit, ask for Freya or Venus(yes, I didn't make those names up, Freya is the head of the operation and Venus is her right hand pit boss, both of them are absolute sweethearts). when I went there the last couple of times the items that I brought were under purchased. Like they could’ve went for a lot more (I.e she took five items and I only received $11). And this is just my opinion, feel like they were under purchased because I was black. There were name brands that weren’t even worn, items that still have tags on them and since it’s the winter season I figured let me just sell all the coats in my house and no one‘s wearing anymore, probably 20. And the woman, I believe is the store manager, tells me that they are a little “loved“, these items are in very good condition, like I said some of them not even worn. But I noticed a lot of clothing items that were in the store especially shoes, that were extremely “loved“, so we just led me to believe that there’s a bit of a bias there. I will not...
