We stayed at the Penn Stroud for a few days and had a great experience overall. Yani helped us with our reservation and check out. Deborah was warm and attentive when we had questions or needed anything. Keyur, the General Manager, was friendly, attentive and very thoughtful from the moment we stepped into the doors. He provided us with information on the hotel, and printed us a list of places we could go/places to eat. He took his time to explain everything and warmly greeted us every morning. He provided information on local COVID restrictions regarding indoor dining which we were not aware of, as well as recommendations on different places we should try out. It's clear that he cares for the people who come to stay there. Overall, the staff was excellent and provided great customer service.
In regards to COVID precautions, there is a plexiglass screen at the front desk and the staff all wear masks. There was hand sanitizer at the reception and also outside of every floor when you step out of the elevator. There are signs up all over the hotel reminding guests to wear masks in common areas. Everyone who we interacted with during our stay, including staff and other guests we saw, respected these rules, which made us feel safe and comfortable.
The parking lot was quite full when we arrived but we managed to get a spot. The hotel overall is really clean, modern and beautiful. We were told that it was renovated in 2020, so the new layout and rooms are quite nice. Even though the hotel is in downtown Stroudsburg, we didn't hear much noise from the street. The king suite is very spacious and has a view of the downtown street which was all lit up beautifully for the holidays. Bathrooms are sparkling clean and have large bottles of soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner (not the mini bottles). The beds are comfortable with fluffy pillows, we slept well almost every night. On one night, a hotel guest in an adjacent room got locked out of their room and was knocking to get their family member's attention at an early morning hour, so this disrupted our sleep. We called down to the front desk and the staff took care of the situation quickly. They also let us have a later check out so we were able to sleep in a bit more.
Every morning around 6 am, the staff would leave to-go brown bags with breakfast items right outside the door (=a bottle of juice, fruit, mini muffins or coffee cake and a breakfast bar). 2 bottles of water were provided in the room mini fridge as well. They also gave us vouchers for free coffee at an amazing coffee shop across the street. The area was pretty quiet, not too busy and there were many places to go (great wineries, ice cream shops, cafes, restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops, etc) within walking distance. A lot of the indoor dining was closed due to COVID restrictions, so we ended up getting take out most of the time. The staff were kind enough to surprise us with a bottle of champagne on our anniversary, which was very thoughtful and unexpected! The little things really do matter, and we appreciate all that the Penn Stroud staff did to ensure we had a...
Read moreThis Hotel was Great! Stayed here 4 nights for my honeymoon because we didn’t want to take the chance and leave the state with all the pandemic restrictions and travel. But prior to booking I asked if they would be able to make my honeymoon memorable and they did🙌🏼Once we arrived there was a big sign that said Mr. & Mrs. Congratulations 🎉 that made me smile😄 and once I opened up the room door there was another sign that said Happy Honeymoon with our names, a bottle of champagne 🍾 and a box of chocolate 🍪 cookies. I really wanted the street view because it was around the holiday time so I really wanted to be able to see all the holiday lights on Main Street especially the new feature with Netflix lights. I opened up the black out curtains and there it was 🎉We had the BEST view in the building. Room was very clean, hallways elevators very clean . No complaints at all. Staff were super friendly and helpful. They did forget to mention there was a open lounge on the second floor where you can bring your food and have a nice meal instead of eating in your room. I didn’t no about it until the last day I needed a microwave and that’s were I discovered the lounge. No biggie just a big empty room with table and chairs but more comfortable to eat. There were small bags of continental breakfast for 2 in front of our door every morning, good snack until your ready to go outside and get food. You also get coffee vouchers for the coffee shop right across the street! How convenient is that. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of Main Street you can leave your car in the lot and walk around. Most bars and restaurants were open. We got everything to go and just enjoyed our stay in the room. Thank you Penn stroud staff for making our honeymoon a memorable one☺️ We will be staying there again as a little get a way from reality (kids).
Just need to mention this is the first time I stayed at a hotel and didn’t have any trouble with the whole activating room key back and forth business. We had NO issues at all. Anytime we needed anything extra like a towel or soap we got the service in about 4mins tops! If I can give this Hotel 10...
Read moreThe hotel is extremely clean and quiet. Location is unbeatable. Parking is perfect. Bathroom has a very modern design. Lots of towels in the room when we checked in. It even has in-shower shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a decent sized blow dryer, full size hand soap and lotion in the bathroom.
The beds are rock hard and super uncomfortable. There is no switch in the bathroom for the light as it is motion activated so I wasn’t a fan of that as I got up at 3am and was blinded by it. No hooks in the bathroom for hanging toiletry bags, towels, etc. no ledges or rails in shower for toiletries, wash cloths, etc.
The lighting is LED and super harsh white/blue lighting. Bad for people prone to headaches and really brings down the whole feel of the room. The room itself is clean, modern, minimalistic, but the lighting doesn’t do it any favors.
I personally like to have the air going at night to drown out noises but that isn’t an option as you can’t keep the fan on the air conditioner running. This was really annoying at 1:30am when the pub’s patrons were outside yelling (our room was Siamsa facing). I really like the hotel being where it is, but if you are someone who likes white noise and softer beds, this may not be the place for you.
Edited to add that Maria in the breakfast room was PHENOMENAL and made all the little issues worth it bc she made us so happy and gave us the best experience!
Breakfast was lovely-a variety of cereals, oatmeal, muffins, danishes, bagels, bread, English muffins, and a toaster, butter, jam, peanut butter, and cream cheese, as well as fruits and hard boiled eggs and yogurts!
The breakfast area is immaculate and overlooks Main Street-it’s truly lovely.
I did get a call from someone from the hotel asking me about this very review which I truly appreciate. I was out with my family and was unable to talk in depth but I will be calling them back after I am done updating...
