I'm a simple individual. I'm simple individual who enjoys food. I don't really look into the ambiance so much as I do the culinary arts of chefs. I do, however, pay attention to service and how others enjoy their quisine.. Kind of helps me narrow down what I will be ordering to eat. Recently, I visited one of the most charming restaurant establishments known as The Cure Cafe- Located in Stroudsburg Pennsylvania- A quiet, beautiful and friendly place. The outside instantly reminds me of home.. like downtown Chattanooga. Kind of homely.. yet artsy. As I entered I noticed a lot of smiles. Especially on the waiters and waitresses. Which, contagiously, put a smile on my face as well. As I grabbed my seat at my table I still noticed other customers hanging out and patiently waiting and eager to be seated and chow down. I met my server, Gina. What wonderful, spunky, kind and fun lady. She was exceptionally friendly and definitely took her job seriously with providing outstanding service to hungry customers. I never had to wave her down for anything. Almost as if she had this keen timing sense of when I was about to need something. I enjoyed the Steak and Eggs dish that was so graciously placed in front of me. Tender, juicy and rather tasty.. so tasty. As if my my pallet and tastebuds made a new best friend. The eggs were made to perfection, the steak along with its juices glistened in the light and it just melted in your mouth. What a sensation.. it's a fantastic place to visit. Whether you're visiting from out of state like me. Or you're a local that's never heard of this fine establishment: this is the place to consume outstanding food, smile, bask in the ambiance and hangout- whether you're a student or an adult. I will be telling my friends and family and their friends and their families about this place. And when you do make this adventure- ask for Gina. Arguably the best waitress with the best and friendly service in...
Read moreTl;Dr; great food and even better staff.
The folks that work here are outstanding. They are all super competent and efficient. It was nice to watch them manage customers and orders and clean up the tables without missing a step. Kudos to all of the staff.
This goes for the incredibly fast kitchen staff. My Veggie hash and short stack pancakes came out within minutes of placing my order and looked beautiful. The food was not underdone or sloppy on the plate, but crispy potatoes and perfectly fluffy pancakes. The eggs were a little underdone for my taste, but absolutely in the realm of over easy. Overall, the food was excellent and on par with if not surpassing, much more expensive restaurant quality
With all of this praise, I do have to mention one thing that I was MILDLY disappointed by. The Veggie Hash was almost all Yukon Gold potatoes and meat substitute. There was some spinach in there, I saw a slice of pepper and a couple pieces of onion, but I didn't find any sweet potatoes. If/when I get it again, I'll ask them to cook it with some salsa, but it would be nice to have a veggie heavy option that doesn't rely on potatoes to fill the plate.
Updating after today's visit (because the host Anya seemed to think this was important): Still a fantastic example of restaurant efficiency and capability. I had the breakfast burrito this time, and it was pretty good. Again, there was an over dependence on potatoes as filling but the cheese and eggs were definitely there as well. The chorizo wasn't terribly spicy, but this was a meal for the masses I guess. I'd love to see a smothered burrito on the menu, but that's just me. Keep up the great work and I'll keep on coming in. And of course telling...
Read moreAs a member of the party who was met by the distasteful greeting my sister previously described, I am thoroughly disappointed by the response of this establishment's ownership. Quality food and a desirable experience in a close-knit space are certainly liable to result in extended wait times; however, please do not insult our intelligence by attributing unacceptable customer service to a wait time. In fact, the review did not mention anything about a wait time, so it is beyond evident now that our party was remembered by something. I'm intrigued to know what that "something" was, if not a group of six young Black women.
While I do understand wanting to defend the integrity of your business, deflecting and invalidating the experience of a group of customers as a defense mechanism is unprofessional and very disheartening. It is an expectation of any business that customer satisfaction be more of a priority than saving face. Despite whatever efforts your establishment has made to be an inclusive space, it certainly fell short of the mark during our visit. This response further perpetuated that by failing to take accountability. Furthermore, there has been no extension of apologetic behavior aside from a blanketed and empty expression of sympathy.
I greatly looked forward to the dining experience here, but unfortunately will not return or recommend. I cannot express enough how disappointed I am, not only in the initial conduct, but in the response to a review predicated on genuine concern and discomfort. I hope you...
