I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sarah Street Grill, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. One of the highlights of my visit was indulging in their sushi, which was nothing short of delicious. Each bite was a delightful blend of fresh ingredients and expert craftsmanship, leaving me craving more. During my time at Sarah Street Grill, I also learned an interesting tidbit about the origin of the restaurant's name. A teacher mentioned to me that "Sarah" was the daughter of Stroudsburg, which is the combination of three names of the city in Pennsylvania. This charming anecdote added an extra layer of significance to my dining experience, making it feel even more special and rooted in the local community. In addition, I had the pleasure of toasting to a husband and wife who are expecting a new addition to their family! It was heartwarming to hear that his wife is about three months pregnant, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and celebration in the air. This news further enriched my experience at Sarah Street Grill, making it an unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, warm ambiance, and the shared excitement of new beginnings. I must also give a shout out to Krista, my server, who made excellent suggestions on the drinks. Her attentive service and friendly demeanor truly enhanced my dining experience, and I'm grateful for her expertise and hospitality. Cheers to Krista and the entire team at Sarah Street Grill for an unforgettable evening!

With all due respect, my first visit here was very disappointing, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning. I want to provide an honest review in hopes it’s helpful for future improvement. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and was served what tasted like pre-cooked, bagged chicken—similar to what you’d find in a takeout lo mein dish. For $22, I expected much better quality. To compare, Olive Garden’s Chicken Marsala is $20 and far superior in both flavor and presentation and grilled. The sauce here lacked richness—it could benefit from heavy cream, and the dish would feel more complete if paired with mashed potatoes or had a stuffing. By that I mean given with the meal, not asked as a choice of side. My partner ordered the bacon cheddar burger and found it quite plain. A simple improvement like adding Lipton onion soup mix to the patty could enhance the flavor significantly. We sat upstairs, and the space itself felt run-down. The furniture was scratched and worn, and the chair I sat in rocked uncomfortably. The atmosphere would benefit from a refresh, perhaps painting the brick a soft gray-white, updating the walls and lighting, and adding cozy booth seating along the edges. The current layout feels outdated and a bit neglected. Instead of bread, the table received pickled items and peppers, which I personally enjoyed. However, this should be optional, as I imagine a lot of it goes uneaten. We were given too much, and I felt bad leaving the rest behind. Smaller portions or asking first would reduce waste. The pickles could also be improved for better flavor. On a positive note, I appreciated that straws weren’t automatically given out. It’s a nice eco-conscious touch and cuts unnecessary costs—more places should adopt this approach. Overall, while the staff was polite and the concept has potential, the food quality does not justify the prices. If the kitchen doesn’t improve or the ambiance isn’t upgraded, I’d recommend dining elsewhere. The restaurant could really benefit from rethinking both the menu execution and the physical space. Unfortunately, unless major changes are made, I won’t be returning.

I'll do a quick review for those that don't want to read everything! The food was great, the service was poor, drinks weren't refilled in a timely manner. We were a group of 9, so I was trying to be understanding, but nobody checked on us for about an hour. This place was a rollercoaster. We had 9 people, but I still feel like I'm being generous giving 3-stars. Everything started off great, our waiter was training someone and they got our waters out quickly. They brought out Miso Soup and edamame which was also great! It took about an hour from the time we received the miso soup and edamame to get our meals. Almost everyone loved their food! It was hot and fresh! My husband had a pesto chicken sandwich and it hardly had any meat in it. When they brought that out along with another sandwich, the waiter couldn't even tell the difference because all he could see was bread, so, he did the "obvious" thing and started to open the bread with his fingers on BOTH sandwiches so he could determine which was which. I thought that was extremely unprofessional and rude. Had they put more meat or toppings on it, maybe he wouldn't have had to touch them. I got sushi and never in my experience of having sushi have I ever had wasabi paste put on it to "hold it" together. It was horrible. I've had sushi from around the world and even in Japan they don't do this. If you don't like wasabi, I'm sure you can understand the disgust I had when I tasted it. The waiter was very nice about it and fixed it for me. The other issue I had is that while waiting for our food during that hour, nobody came to check on us to refill our drinks. When we first got there it was busy, but it was almost empty in our room before we got our food and we still couldn't even gain eye contact with anyone to help us get refills. Maybe this place is better with smaller groups, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping to.

The Sarah Street Grill is, hands down, the number one place I recommend for casual dining in Stroudsburg, especially for tourists. The rule of thumb for any good restaurant is usually "if the menu is more than a page, then leave". This is NOT true at Sarah Street. Despite the impressive number of options, every meal is excellently curated, sourced, cooked, and presented. You can order anything off the menu and expect excellence. From Shawnee Craft beer to creative cocktails: hand rolled sushi to perfectly seasoned burgers, Sarah Street has it covered. Additionally, since they pull fresh vegetables right from their garden, you get the genuine experience of eating local. Not in the mood to eat at sports bar or in front of live music? Ask to sit upstairs where the ambiance is more refined and the walls are covered in art from local artists! If you are visiting the area, this is the place to go. I went there to eat with my best friend. The food was exceptional. My issue is that we ordered an appetizer, and our entrees came first. The waitress apologized and said she forgot to put the order in for the appetizer at which point we told her we no longer wanted it because we had our main course. I may go back there because the food is wonderful, but the wait staff need training. UPDATE 10/10/24 I decided to give the Sarah Street Grill another chance. My friend and I went and had spinach artichoke dip and potstickers for appetizers. The artichoke dip was fabulous and the sauce for the potstickers was intriguing. It was spicy and sweet and sour all at the same time. A little too spicy for me though. As entrees I ordered the chicken Saltambuca and my friend had the salmon Oscar. Both dishes were phenomenal. A much better experience the second time around. I definitely have to come back here. I'm glad I gave it another chance.

Update: I've tried going here a number of times over the last couple of years and I've consistently had issues with the service. Waiting an hour and a half for someone to take your order after being sat at a table isn't too unusual from my experience here. I appreciate the variety of choices they give you as well, but they have 4 different menus that they leave you with (and I'm not talking single page sheets, talking full on pleather-bound menus, which seems just slightly excessive. ______________________ Good quality meat in their burgers. Fries were realllllly soggy with oil. Completely messed up our order of nachos (they mixed someone else's request for no beans up with our order, then they forgot the chicken... for our chicken nachos,) but they quickly took care of it. The drinks are -heavily- watered down; everyone we were with complained about how badly everything was watered down.
