Hubby and I always prefer to support local businesses when on our weekend road trips so after reading all the great reviews we decided to have lunch here. Philly Steaks is located in the heart of Stroudsburg, right on Main Street, so parking can be a pain but it's well worth your time to circle the block as long as you need to in order to score an open meter. These subs are pretty big so hubby and I decided to order the special (sub, fries and drink for $11) and share. We got the original cheesesteak with mozzarella, mushrooms, peppers and onions with a cup of marinara on the side. One bite of this packed to the gills sub brought back fond memories of my childhood when my dad would take us to his favorite sub shop that has long since closed (they had a "special" sub with the exact same toppings). There was so much meat on the sub that I had to use a fork to scoop up all the steak left behind on my plate after I finished the sub. The meat was so flavorful that I didn't even need salt or pepper and the toppings were chopped up into the meat so I got some of that yummy goodness in every single bite. The fries that came with the special was a huge portion as well, and they were right out of the fryer - hot and crispy, none of those limp fries you get from under the heat lamp at your local fast food joint. Hubby and I were both stuffed by the time we finished and needed to head back to our hotel for a nap. Well played Philly Steaks, we...
Read morePhilly Steaks was very good. As the name implies, they have Philly steaks, but their menu was actually surprisingly large and had many other things on it besides Philly steaks. They had a rather large pizza menu and quite a few other things too, including pierogies.
Since what they are named after is the Philly steak, that is what I went with. I got the regular Philly with mushrooms, onions, and peppers, with american cheese. They have a choice of american, provolone, and cheese whiz. It was a very good size for the price, and I wasn't able to finish the whole thing in one sitting. It had a good amount of onions and peppers, without there being too much and having them take over the sandwich. There was a nice amount of cheese without there being too much, which is common, especially since I am not a fan of large amounts of cheese. It held all the ingredients together nicely without overpowering them.
The spicy fries were also good, although I wouldn't specifically call them spicy, I would just refer to them as seasoned, which was not a problem. The portion size was very good and definitely shareable, even if you get the small, given the size of the steak sandwiches.
Overall, the food was very good, and the portion size was great for the price. The restaurant was clean and since I am not from PA, I was surprised to see 6 packs of beer for sale in the coolers! I will definitely be returning next time I am passing...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😋PHILLY CHEESESTEAK When I first opened the carton, my first impression was (I just paid $11 bucks for a steak umm) sandwich. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The bread was freshly baked and the meat was seasoned well with just enough cheese drizzle. I wished I could’ve added yellow peppers to make this sandwich truly superb!! I’d recommend you all to try this place and I will be ordering from them again!! ⭐️😞GARLIC PARM WINGS: I wanted to try something different and I ordered the Garlic Parmesan wings. First of all they were $15, very dry and tasted like they were 2 days old and reheated in the microwave with Parmesan cheese powder sprinkled all over it. These wings run about $1.25 each and I couldn’t find one that was worth it😞🤷🏽♀️😖 ⭐️⭐️⭐️😊CHICKEN CHEESE STEAK: I have this place another. The chicken is made of real chicken breast, not processed frozen food. The bread was freshly baked and soft. This was a satisfying shift and risk to try...
