At first I thought it would be a nightmare because I called to ask a question about a deposit regarding my dog since there dog friendly and I didn't understand the response I was receiving from the female employee and she got very nasty and hung the phone up on me boy was I in shock. Mind you, she had absolutely no people skills nor what so ever l woul unprofessional, impatient, unkind with such an ugly attitude working the phones or up front with the customers if it were my business. Whomever put her in charge of answering the phones, let alone working the front desk, should be ashamed of themselves. Moving forward I proceeded to call back so I could get her name and a different female answered the phone and I was nothing but nice to her as well and just asked her what the females name was that had just hung up on me and she was refusing to give me her name and went ahead to tell me that I was escalating the situation by calling back to ask for the name of her co worker and I couldn't believe she was saying something of the sort because I was so polite to her when I asked then I just said '¹I am a customer of yours and would like a little respect and for you to just give me the name of your coworker who was so rude to me and hung up" and she told me 'well the customers not always right here' ..... I was completely flabbergasted when I was told that and the original call to this establishment was to just get an answer to a simple question and to be treated that way I was appalled (by the way I was finally given the name of the employee and it was something along the lines of Tanika or Tamera) I knew this would most likely be my last time using the Hampton because the whole situation was completely uncalled for and neither myself or anybody else deserves treatment as such and I will be telling friends and family about that experience so they can move on to a different franchise. Although l had such a horrible experience on the phone, my room was already paid for so I stayed there and all the employees I came in contact with were very helpful and pleasant especially the room service females and the younger female that works breakfast every morning was a sweetheart. I do have one suggestion, and that's for the employees not to have their phone out while customers are standing there trying to get their attention and being ignored because the cell phone seemed more important than the customers needs/ wants. Other than that, my stay went well, which surprised me. However, I still am standing firm with what I said about no longer returning, and neither will anyone that's...
Read moreAs a HHonors memeber, I've stayed in approximately 10 or so other Hampton Inns over the past couple years. This one was my least favorite, but I don't mean that to sound as harsh as it does. The reasons being: I've always been able to use free wifi, and have never had to use the "24 hour complimentary internet", which, by the way, took forever to log on, and kicked me off almost immediately after I was actually able to log on. My only other complaint was the linens and pillows on the bed were flimsy, which surprised me, because every other Hampton Inn I've stayed at has had the huge comfortable bed cover and full pillows.
That being said, it is still a Hampton Inn, which, in my opinion, is leaps and bounds over most other hotels. And to balance out my complaint, I'd like to compliment the housekeeping staff, especially Janna (I hope I got her name right!) who took care of our room, and apologized profusely for knocking on the door because our "Do Not Disturb" sign had fallen on the floor during the night and she did not see it. The fact that she even acknowledged she may have woken us up (she didn't, for the record) was more than I expected, and was greatly appreciated.
Also, I mistakenly left some items hanging in the closet, and a very kind employee called me to let me know. Unfortunately we had already gone too far back home to turn around, but I believe she called as soon as possible to see if I was still in the area.
Overall, if there is no other Hampton Inn in the Pocono area, I would choose to stay at this one again, but I would love to see some...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hampton Inn Stroudsburg/Poconos in August 2025 for a quick 2 night stay. We checked in online, picked our room but the app would not activate the room key. I had to stop by the front desk upon arrival for a real key and also ask for a late check out (which one was granted for 12PM instead of the usual 11AM).|The common areas of the hotel were clean, but smelled strongly of cigarettes and pot smoke. The room itself was a standard room with two queen beds. The room could use a but of upkeep since the toilet paper holder was practically falling off the wall and lightbulbs were missing. We also didnt have enough towels for the people staying in the room so more had to be requested along with the lighbulbs and fix for the toilet paper holder. |The floors were disgustingly dirty. For instance, we used a towel on the floor near the shower. When we picked it up the underside of the towel was dark Grey with dirt.|Elsewhere in the hotel: |The gym seemed to be well equipped, but we did not use it. |The pool was clean and warm with plenty of tables and chairs. There were towels in the pool area for use one day, but the rack was empty the second day.|There was on site laundry but many of the washer/dryers had signs that said they were out of order.|We ate the complimentary breakfast each morning and made waffles. The batter dispenser had a cheap plastic nozzle that kept breaking, which had to be fixed a number of times while we were eating.|We would stay at this hotel again, but would probably look...
