City Central Church — Attraction in Tacoma

I'm going to be honest -I'm pretty disappointed. I went to two services, and while they do have what seems to be sound doctrine, decent enough music, and charismatic 'faces' of the church, I don't really get an authentic or genuine vibe from the staff. I asked about small groups that I could possibly join and other events and activities I could attend to get to know the congregation, and the staff pushed way too hard to just get me to download an app and join a group. I asked repeatedly -several different staff members- about the groups and what would be a good fit for me, and again, they brushed off the questions and pushed me to download the app. I never really got much information on the groups themselves, so I did eventually download the app and tried to join a group. Nope. The links to the groups I'm interested in bring me to unfinished pages, and the "join" buttons don't seem to work. I did fill out a contact card, and I received a couple of texts from a few different Numbers with generic greetings(all good and fine), but when I texted them back with more specific questions, I was ignored by one entirely and the other number responded with "have you attended any events? Have you connected with anyone?" I work, and I'm brand new to the area, so the answer was no, and I received absolutely nothing back. I think this church is good at seeming welcoming, but when it comes down to it, trying to get "in" here has been more difficult than it should have been. In fact, I'm still not "in" and I'll be trying another church...

Knowing Freedom was life changing. As a 37 year old starting a fresh relationship with God there were a lot of things I was holding onto that I did not know were bad, or sin. It taught me that the guilt, shame, and pain I hold inside were injustices and strongholds that I can get rid of by simply asking God. It taught me to be accountable for my part of my sins, to ask forgiveness , grieve it and let it go. It taught me that Jesus has been by my side through so much and I didn’t even realize it until those ah-ha moments made things click. It taught me that even if no one else does HE loves me and I am his beloved and worthy of all the good things he has to offer my life. It taught me vulnerability and that I did not have to be fight or flight all the time and to let myself trust and open up to him to gain sound mind. Sound mind is something I’ve NEVER experienced. It taught me that it is never too late to begin your relationship with him. Thank you City Central for not only providing the course work and lessons but for being a safe place to learn and grow in. Thank you for a community of genuine people who truly care and want what’s best for me. Thank you Pastor Chris and Jenna for answering questions even though I was so embarrassed that I didn’t know some references or where to start reading in the Bible. I will forever be grateful to everyone at City Central and will continue my journey with their help ,love...

My second time taking the three day Freedom Immersion class. Yes, I’ve also taken Living Freedom and Replicating Freedom. Over these last two years I have found unspeakable joy, peace and freedom from my past life trauma and injustices the enemy used against me for 58 years by establishing strongholds in my life that forced me to conform to the ways of the world keeping me blind to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This time through Freedom Immersion was different. Each day I felt the presence of Holy Spirit on me. The curriculum seemed to peacefully flow through me. This was very unusually for me to feel this way in any class environment. This was special. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who felt the Spirit. It seemed the connections I made with others were divinely inspired. It was exhilarating to speak into other’s lives as others did into mine. If your heart and mind needs freeing, if you feel that hurt deep in your heart and you want to stop the hurt life seems to be always beating us down, this class is the start in your journey. I’m praying for each of you who might read this review that you will encounter same Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us to simply ask and you shall receive. Jesus is the only way to Holy Spirit and I pray your legs will seemingly know how to find him. God Bless you on your journey to true freedom from the ways...
