When reading other reviews, you really have to learn to sift out the genuine reviews from those who were just venting over little things, because the place wasn't "perfect" to their standards. I'm glad I went with my gut on this hotel and decided to give it a chance.
I will start off by saying, that yes, the hotel is obviously an older hotel/construction, therefore (particularly the exterior), is not super updated or modern...all which can be seen in pictures online. Some reviews I read compared it to feeling like prison grounds...I wouldn't go that far...but I will say because they are open and many corridors, you should be aware of your surroundings at all times, as in any place, really...but generally, I felt safe. Some people zeroed in on all the little imperfections that come along with an older building, but while I was there, I saw staff taking care of the grounds...sweeping, washing floors, and picking up any garbage. There was plenty of parking while I was there, even when I got back to the hotel late sometimes (keep in mind, this was the beginning of May, so not very busy) and the parking lot was well lit. I stayed during weekdays and there was no security driving around, but I really didn't feel I needed it.
I wasn't sure what to expect of the room, but I was mostly pleasantly surprised. I had a top floor, front-facing, 2 full-size beds room that had been updated. This is the first hotel I've stayed in with no carpeting (which hygienically speaking, is probably better)...other reviews complained that the floors were dirty, which could have been from their own shoes in and out of the room, but I never set my feet/socks on a bare hotel floor/carpeting anyway, just because you never know...they seemed fairly clean to me though. The beds were pretty comfortable and clean...I ALWAYS do an inspection for any bugs, etc. when I enter a room and there were no signs of any (this is HUGE, especially in a place like Florida)...my sheets were super fresh and I could smell that they'd been bleached and cleaned properly. The air conditioner was quiet and clean...I could see that the filters had been cleaned and that made the room feel fresh. There was an iron and board in the room, as well as a safe (mine did have a key to it), a decent-sized mini-fridge, and tv. There was no in-room microwave (second hotel I've stayed in like that), but there was one on each floor that was working and clean...only wish it was closer to my room. The bathroom was clean and modern...I had no issues with the sink, tub, or toilet...there were clean, fresh towels and when I needed more, I just went to the desk and asked, and I was given a whole other set with no issue. The only drawback to the rooms, I would say, is that because they face common outside corridors, you don't really feel like you can open the curtains much, even in the daytime for some daylight, because anyone could look in, but people usually aren't in the rooms much anyway during the day, so I guess that doesn't really matter too much.
Overall, I was happy with my stay at this hotel and I would keep it as an option again. It's definitely not a resort, although some of the reviews apparently thought it was going to be or expected it to be (if they thoroughly researched it and read descriptions/reviews, they wouldn't have been surprised to find out that it's not), but if you're a business traveler just looking for a decent place to stay close to the airport or another type of traveler who isn't going to be spending a whole lot of time at the hotel anyway, this hotel should meet your basic needs. I will add that all the staff were very friendly/nice, helpful, and professional. Also, there was at one time an open restaurant on the grounds, but it is closed for remodeling or whatever the case (again, that information is online), but there are PLENTY of other food options in the area that are close and convenient to get to. I'd say, give this hotel a chance if you're looking for something reasonable, clean, and convenient, but nothing fancy...

This is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed in, in any price range. I've stayed here several times when I've been in the area for business and would feel comfortable sending family here knowing they'll get a clean room, low key setting without the lot lizards and hooligans.
On this latest stay, Lorenzo was notably pleasant, genuinely engaging, sincerely courteous, and startlingly efficient with my check-in. Having gotten to observe him with other guests while waiting it was evident to me that he is, without a doubt an asset to the team.
They appreciate their repeat guests. Lorenzo made sure I had plenty of extra towels for my stay and asked me if there was anything else he could get for me. They have won my loyalty. I will stay here again in a heartbeat before burning money on a fancier hotel if I need to stay in Tampa again.
Rooms & Amenities:
The rooms are basic but very CLEAN and have everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are ice cold with mirrored doors on the closet in the bathroom with its granite vanity and wide tub. Outstanding water pressure and nice shower heads. Tubs have pivot seal drains that do NOT leak down, perfect for a nice soak after a long day.
There is ample, well-lit parking included (like it should be), the rooms have Dove products, coffee, drink ice buckets, fridge, and microwave. There are ice, vending, and laundry machines as well. Walmart is around the corner, so you can set up nice for your stay or a dinner in if you don't feel like playing restaurant roulette.
The hotel has alot of touches you''ll appreciate. The lobby is clean and has ice water (no, there isn't cucumbers or fruit in it) and cups out. The pool area is a nice size and I hear there is a basic exercise room, I'll have to check them out on my next visit.
Each time I've stayed on the second floor. Love the floor open courtyard for a bit of fresh air, elevators make it a breeze getting in and out. Keycard to get into the lobby but unfortunately you also can't get into the pool for a night swim.
The free breakfast is a great bonus. When I'm traveling, I'm grateful for hotels that still do this. There is fruit, yogurt, milk, OJ, and coffee, toast with real butter, PB&J, raisin bread, muffins, bagels w cream cheese and waffles.
Things to Note:
Easy access to 275 and downtown. The Shell gas station next door is the most expensive in the area. Bring a USB charger and don't fuss if there's a bit of dust behind a door or someone left a candy bar wrapper in the elevator and it was still there the next morning.
Final Thoughts:
I DARE YOU to stay in the other similarly priced hotels in the area. You'll be back here, quicker than a hiccup. This is a well-run hotel which has always delivered outstanding value for me as a traveler. The staff do work very hard to make it as nice as they can. Please respect and thank them for the good work...

I moved to Tampa after college lived there for 5 years and then moved away. I can to Tampa to come to a family party for my sonâs dadâs side of the family. We came into town and went directly to the party. I left my son with family and after drinking and having a good time went to the hotel to lay down and relax. I pulled up to the front door and it was completely pitch black in front of the hotel. No problems checking in. However, when I went to the room the outside hallways were barely lit. They had a-lot of randoms hanging around in the hallways. This scared me so I had a male friend who lives in the area come to my room. So that someone would see him in the room with me. He left in the middle of the night so hopefully no one would see him leaving. About 8 oâclock the next morning someone used a key card to open my door. The only thing that stopped them is I had latched the door and woke up once I heard the door opening. I immediately got up, got my things and left as fast as possible. On my way out of the hotel I decided to tell the front desk what had happened. An employee name Adolla told me that is was another guest that tried to access my room. I asked her how the guest got the key to my room and she said I must have dropped it. I then showed her both keys that was made for me the previous night for me at check in. She said it was possibly maintenance or housekeeping. Another employee at the dest then tell her they only go to the room when called. I informed her I didnât call anyone so, how did someone get into my room. She said she didnât know and it was my responsibility to lock the door. The door was locked and the only reason I am probably able to write this review. She then told me its not the hotel responsibility to make sure the door is locked and can not be accessed by another guest. I was being accused of lying and like I was at fault for some STRANGER trying to enter my room. I truly believe they are sex trafficking from this hotel. I was the ideal target. I was slightly( two wine coolers) under the influence but you could see smell it on me because I had been at a party, checking late at night alone. I believe the hotel is in on it. Someone I didnât know accessed my room with a key card. They are right next to gentlemenâs club drunk girls must wonder over there all the time. I dont know and I wasnât sticking around to figure it out. Not once did the staff offer to call the police or check cameras or do an investigation. I think its a red flag!!!
PLEASE DONT STAY HERE. THEY DONT NOT PRIORITIZE SAFETY AND ARE POSSIBLY SEX...
