Washington Street Park — Attraction in Tampa

BEWARE - AT YOUR OWN RISK. Unprovoked, my 10 lb dog was attacked by a large vicious German Shepherd. It has cost me over $5,000 in medical bills. When I reported to Animal Control they refused to write a citation to the owner because it is a City of Tampa Property. They claim that you are at your OWN RISK when you enter that park. That may be the case for parks run by Hillsborough County but it is not the case for a City of Tampa Park. Nowhere is it stated, posted or written into the City of Tampa Ordinances that this is the case. Please be aware, that YOU nor your ANIMAL are protected by Animal Control when you enter this Park. Decent dog park sandwiched between a couple high rise apartment buildings, which gives it decent shade. The people and dogs are usually friendly and tend to know each other. The grass is soft turf and there is a covered seating area. The cleanliness of the park varies. Some of the owners do not understand they are actually responsible for their pet's waste.
