*Room: I chose to pay extra for an oceanfront room. The view is outstanding, but unfortunately that is where the pleasantries stop. Dusit Beach Resort is advertised as a 4-Star hotel, and that can not be farther from the truth. Room was spacious but can use a thorough cleaning. Upon inspection at check in, there was evidence that the toilet, shower, bar area, etc. had not been deeply cleaned. Unfortunately, that is not where the lack of housekeeping ended.
*Housekeeping: The next day, I after arriving back to the hotel after 4pm, I discovered that the room had not been cleaned/replenished although the placard was on my door indicating to service my room. I noticed housekeeping personnel in the hallway and inquired about what time rooms are serviced and requested to clean mine. They stated that they would come when finished with the current room. Around 5:30, no one showed up. After receiving no answer at the front desk, I went downstairs to inquire in person. The clerk said that a lot of people checked in, so rooms went without cleaning. I stated that at almost 6pm, that is unacceptable (especially after just returning from a day of off roading) and I would like my room serviced as soon as possible. Housekeeping did not come until 7pm. Not only was the room half cleaned, wash towels and water were not replaced.
My experience would pretty much remain the same for my entire visit; having to go down to the front desk (no answer via phone) to request housekeeping which would not be completed until after 4 or 5 pm. Completely unacceptable especially given that I paid more for an ocean front room, yet every other room received attention while I was forced to wait until the evening.
*Water: Water bottles provided on first day only. Was not replenished by housekeeping even when requested. Was told to call the front desk (again no answer). Water bottle refill stations are located in the hallway, however remained unsanitary and filthy throughout my entire stay.
*Ice: Ice machine located in the hallway also remained filthy throughout my entire stay. How do I know it was not cleaned? Sand was dumped in it and remained for the duration of my stay. I had to access a different floor to get ice. Additionally, the carpeted area in the entirety of the hallway remained soaking wet for the duration of my stay.
*Parking: There are signs designating hotel parking, however the parking garages are also utilized by the mall which leaves very little options for parking. Garages were often full. One my first day upon arrival, there was no doorman to receive luggage and/or provide guidance on the parking situation. This resulted in me having to haul my luggage from the top floor of the Dusit Thani parking garage to the front desk of the sister hotel. For $300+ a night for a room, there were several points of service that could use a more hospitable touch.
*Beach: The actual beach is beautiful and the only highlight from my visit. However, beach chairs/umbrellas are not provided by the hotel but are available for purchase starting at $35. Other water toys and life vest were also available for purchase.
*Amenities: I did not utilize the pool due to the overcrowding, but it looked nice, and the waterfall was a nice touch. The over abundance of used towels surrounding the kiosk was a bit of an eye sore.
The café had offerings that looked appetizing. I ordered the breakfast wrap. It was delicious and was priced appropriately.
Overall, I did not enjoy my stay at Dusit Beach Resort. For the price paid, my stay was not up to par and completely unacceptable. Will definitely not recommend this hotel, and would like to caution anyone else looking for a relaxing stay in Guam....
Read moreBooked 4 rooms and 3 of the rooms were hot the entire stay. My family and I in all those affected rooms were all expressing our disatisfaction throughout the entire night amongst each other and how we were all sweating. we didnt even use blankets! Hotel staff only made an effort to have maintenance go the morning of our check out day about 2 HOURS before we had to leave. Both my partner and I and our two children were sweating all night. We even requested for a fan because service wasnt going to be provided in a timely manner. (My kids were asleep already and they expected us to stay up until after 12am to wait up for maintenance hence why we requested for a fan.) To our disappointment, we recieved a fan that did not even rotate and was extremely dirty and dusty. Since we checked out and up til 2 days after, our baby has been sick with a bad cold and fever probably due to that dirty fan and sweating all night!. On top of that, the shower temperature kept fluctuating and we got burned from the hot water. Thank God it wasnt any of our kids or we would have had a different outcome with the hotel staff. However, the water wasnt secure and consistent because it changed out of no where from the shower head to the over head shower head and I was showering my infant!! She almost choked on water because I couldnt figure out why the water switched and came out from the other one!! and the water pressure was too strong for a little baby to get blasted by out of no where! Major safety issues especially for young children! I am severely dissatisfied with my experience at this hotel and the front desk paid no mind at all to any concerns and basically brushed aside our complaints that we had no choice but to make the most of it because of the ridiculous amount of money in comparison to the experience. The lack of urgency, cleanliness, maintenance and care for guests is extremely disappointing considering being one of the more grand hotels here on Guam. Do not check into the room unless you check to see if it is up to standards and make sure you keep an eye on your kids when in the shower to make sure theyre safe! And make sure they actually CLEAN the rooms and appliances if you request for one. Ridiculous. Horrible experience for the overnight...
