Town Park and the Telluride Bluegrass festival is the worst! There are way too many people playing instruments and having a good time with each other. Super annoying to hear the sounds of banjos, guitars, mandolins and fiddles echoing in the air. I barely ever saw any drums. Where the hell are the drums?! The mountains are huge and surround the area so much that it feels way too claustrophobic and it really makes me anxious to be encircled by them. The stupid gondola was so high off the ground that it me feel so much like a bird in flight that I nearly had a panic attack. Plus the damn creek makes soooo much noise. I could not get any sleep with that droning sound. Additionaly there are by far way too many pleasant and friendly people. It is so irritating to have to say hello, good morning, good afternoon, etcetera to every, single, freaking passerby. I don't care about how much fun you are having and how amazing your artist of choice is. Keep it to yourself. The staff and volunteers only cared about if people are being helped and they constantly interjected into my personal space to see if I was doing ok. If I need help I'll ask for it, thank you very much. All in all, I would strongly recommend avoiding Town park, the bluegrass festival, and Telluride in general. It's too welcoming, there is too much fresh air and nature, and hardly any real good musicians around. I'd give it zero stars if that...
Read moreI camped here one night in early August. I luckily got one of the last walk-in tent camping spots (I think there are only 5 tent sites). There's parking for ONE car for each campsite, and each tent site allows four people. Several tents can go on each dedicated tent site. There were probably about 20 RV sites, though I didn't pay much attention to that...it was just me and my motorcycle...and it was $19 for the tent site (probably more for the RV sites)...and I lucked out and found another solo traveler with a tent, and we ended up splitting the fee (so less than $10 each! But only one car was given an an official parking spot...thankfully, my motorcycle was able to squeeze into a corner of the parking area anyway). Each tent site is fairly private from the others (separated by tall bushes and grass), but they are very close to a running river, so make sure to bring plenty of bug spray because the mosquitoes were rampant at dusk and mid morning. All the camping sites (tent and RV) are close to full bathroom facilities (heated showers, private toilet stalls, and a couple of sinks), with separate bathrooms for men and women. There's a pool just a few minutes away (open during business hours), and the town with all its shops and restaurants is literally a 5 minute walk away. If you want to be smack dab in the heart of Telluride and all the surrounding trails...and still be camping...Town...
Read moreThis seems like a nice place to talk about Telluride. Last year (2022), I visited 3 times, once in May, once in July and then in September ..very beautiful, I fell in love immediately, great places to eat, the bars that I been too were ok, the Irish pub seemed less busy which is what I like, some other bars looked like they attracted a younger college crowd which I didn't like. I hiked bridal veil falls trail twice and have so many pictures of this place, there are festivals every week throughout the summer to take the place of the ski season tourism. I love the peaceful vibe and people from all over the world come in. Mountain Village is loaded with shops and a free Gondola will take you from Telluride to Mountain Village. Parking is a problem as it is a small community and they are serious about where you park. Park in the designated meter spots only (1.35 per hour. I think) it's worth it. And you are supporting the town too. I park in main right near the park when I stay. The butcher and the baker seems to be a very popular restaurant as I see people lined up to be served (I've never ate there). The Sheridan is a popular hotel (I never stayed there) I hit the pizza shop down the street on the corner which was really good. It was a great time. And it came at a time where I needed peace, serenity and...
