THE crown jewel of hotels for Telluride. I am hesitant to let the word out on how great this place is, but I feel compelled to put a review in. Hotel Columbia blends top tier hospitality services with "family owned charm". I travel considerably for business trips, and over time you get used to the canned "thank you for being an XYZ status member". Here, you genuinely feel that each staff member enjoys working at Hotel Columbia. A few examples of the top tier hospitality service. On the first night in town, Edward walked us through all of the many hiking trails around Telluride. He honestly did not have to spend as much time as he did walking through the maps and different trails, but it was greatly appreciated. Another occasion came when I was taking the breakfast up to the room. On the previous morning, Victoria and Nicole noticed I was making multiple trips back and forth grabbing coffees and different breakfast items. Realizing that I would probably do this again, they set up a nice carrying tray with coffee and utensils ready to go for me. Finally, another occasion in which the top tier hospitality showed itself, is when we asked for a change of towels. In normal hotels, the cleaning crew would plop some towels on the bed and call it a day. This cleaning staff, made sure to tidy up things (we left dog bowls out) as well as cleaning in a non invasive way. It's the attention to detail from the office crew (Edward), to the morning restaurant crew (Victoria, Nicole) all the way to the cleaning crew that really stand out for this place. The location is great - you're right next to the mountain view gondola AND an amazing walking trail. The place is incredibly dog friendly, and everyone who works there is of the highest quality. Can't stress how much Edward, Victoria, Nicole, Blaine and Fleur made the vacation one...
Read moreGreat location, outstanding staff, and sweet suite! We haven't been to Telluride before, and my husband spent a long time picking out a place to stay, and he did good. This place is across the street from the gondola, and has an outstanding restaurant, the Cosmo, that has been packed due to their crazy popular happy hour. Our quirky but comfortable suite has a tiny fridge, a fireplace, a cozy sitting area with a door to a tiny balcony, and two TVs. It's short on window space, and when it snows, the main window--a huge skylight--is covered, but there is still plenty of light and lots of lamps when the sun goes down. The room layout is spacious, and is equipped very up-to-date decor and almost everything you might want, from a Keurig-style coffee maker with two big ceramic mugs, a pair of wine glasses and a corkscrew, a humidifier to a couple of sticks of lip balm and 2 robes. The fireplace is gas, and only works part-time. Sometimes it is tricky to get it started, even though it's a simple "light" switch, and worse, it randomly stops as we are enjoying it. The bathroom is small but very nice, with a spacious shower, heated floor, and built-in heated towel racks! The bed is super comfortable and the bedding is awesome. What a fantastic...
Read moreWe were so pleased with the Hotel Columbia. The location could not be better, with all of Telluride walkable from the hotel, the main drag two short blocks away, and the wonderful, free gondola just across the street, as is the river path. We rode the gondola up the mountain at different times of day and night, and the views were stunning, the ride fun. Go just before sunset for colorful views of the Telluride valley, and at night for fantastic stargazing.||Our room was large and comfortable, and the balcony with two chairs made for a great setting in the morning and evening. The European-style towel warmer in the large, modern bathroom was a welcome touch, since we had wet bathing suits after visiting thermal pools in Ouray and Durango. The shower was heavenly thanks to its steam feature. It took a minute to figure out but we loved it. ||Housekeeping was solid and efficient, and room furnishings were modern and high-quality. The staff was friendly and helpful, and getting our car (valet parking) was usually...
