The food was great, but this place genuinely has the worst service ever. I went this past weekend (11/21) and was appalled with our server. I did not catch her name but she was the brunette bartender. After reading other reviews i’m going to assume her name is Leah because there are other 1 stars mentioning her horrible attitude and treatment towards customers. To begin our experience here, we waited over 10 minutes for water, and when everyone started placing drink orders is when her attitude began. To start, she made one of the members of our party stand up to check her height, and then made a rude comment about how her nose looked different (she had a nose job), there’s no issue with being thorough when checking IDs but she was weirdly rude about it. When our drinks finally came out after 30 minutes, she suggested we get a caesar salad for the table (we had 8 people just for context). We were all happy to split the salad, but when we asked her for separate checks at the end of our meal she literally complained about splitting that salad 4 ways. I work in a restaurant and understand the frustration of having to deal with multiple checks, however, we tried to do it in the easiest way possible, as we split it by couple and helped her out with remembering what each of us got. It was just so odd that she suggested the idea of splitting the salad but was making a huge deal about splitting it on the checks. She literally said “it’s $4 per person” in a rude tone and rolled her eyes. Everyone at the table started looking around super confused as to why she was saying that out loud. Then, as we were going around reminding her what we all ordered, a member of our party said the name of his pizza incorrectly and she goes, “actually, it’s called this…” and rolls her eyes again. At this point everyone at our table is baffled with the fact that she’s standing there rolling her eyes multiple times and one person even goes “what is going on?” and she laughed and walked away. Such an odd experience. When we finally got our checks (another 10 minutes later) we see that there was an auto-gratuity added for large parties at 18%. Definitely explains why she had no interest in being nice to her customers. This lady definitely needs to find a new job, specifically one where she doesn’t interact with...
Read moreOnce upon a delicious evening in Telluride, Colorado, my dear husband and I found ourselves swept away by the bustling charm of Brown Dog Pizzeria.
Masterfully navigating a lively crowd, we claimed the hidden gems of the place – the bar seats. Though the outside patio was alive with cheer, our insider tip to you is the bar - a VIP pass to speedy service and engaging banter.
To toast our adventure, we sipped on local legends. My partner relished the crisply refreshing kolsch from the nearby Mountain Beer, while I opted for the exotically named ‘Princess Yum Yum’, a rasped kolsch from Denver Brewing Company. Less hoppy, but equally invigorating, it’s a brew worthy of its regal title!
Their pizza menu was a symphony of savory delights, with two distinct styles - Classic American and Detroit Style. Always ones for an adventure, we decided to take a detour to Detroit.
Enter the Brooklyn Bridge Detroit Style pizza - an absolute triumph. This 8-square marvel was an artful assembly of flavors, from the signature sauce and mozzarella to NY Ricotta, cupping pepperoni, hand pinched Italian sausage, chopped garlic, Sicilian oregano, and Pecorino Romano. Every bite was a journey through layers of taste and texture.
If you're on a quest for the quintessential pizza experience in Telluride, set your compass for Brown Dog Pizzeria. It's a 5-star journey of culinary delights that will leave you craving for more. And let's not forget the pie-èce de résistance - the crispy Detroit-style crust, which, much like Telluride itself, has a certain 'crust' you must see (and taste) to believe! So, come hungry and be prepared for a 'crust'-worthy...
Read moreI visited brown dog on 12/26/22. My boyfriend and I arrived and sat at the bar. We ordered our drinks and a pizza. Our family called and said they were going to meet us there so I then put In our name for a table since we would have 2 children in our party. We let the bartender, whose name is Leah L, know that we would be changing seating. She then proceeded to very rude with us saying she couldn't allow us to move saying it was an issue with the servers. We told her that we would cash out and tip her then start a new tab with our new server. She protested that as well. So we then asked for a box and our check and she then said we could do whatever we wanted very rudely. The guests next to us were appalled at her demeanor. We were moved to our new table. Our family ordered 2 waters an order of fries and a pizza. We asked for the fries to come out before the pizza for the children to eat, since they had been waiting for almost an hour for the table. It took 15 minutes for the fries to come out. Then when the check came the server said an 18% gratuity was already added. When we asked about it he said that was automatic for large groups and that it was stated in the menu. We then looked at the menu and it was not on there. He then made a comment about talking to management. Our whole experience was unpleasant. Our pizza was not exactly what we ordered. Service was terrible. The hostess was the only friendly staff member we encountered during our visit. We were visiting from indiana for the holidays and we will never come here again, nor will we recommend...
