Not kid friendly
Updated with full story after their response- I want to start by saying that I genuinely appreciate art studios and the value they offer their communities- which is why we stopped in on my daughter’s 10th birthday, at her request. The space itself had beautiful work, including several wooden tables placed throughout the gallery, some accompanied by chairs or benches.
When we arrived, one staff member kindly informed my mother-in-law that although there were signs saying not to touch the wooden tables, this was mainly due to early morning coffee traffic since they open at 7am. She said it was fine to touch them, which made us feel welcome and at ease.
However, less than two minutes later, a different staff member approached us with a very different tone. My two children were sitting on the floor, calmly resting their hands or arms on a coffee table while quietly looking at the art on the wall and table- not you touching anything but the table which had just been ok’d by an employee. I had just taken a photo of them in that moment because it was so sweet. We were told they needed to move away from the area- with a comment about this space not being for kids but there was a bucket of colored rock they could pick for free in exchange for a review. That was of course followed up with a response to this review that suggested they were using it as a playground area, which felt out of touch with what was actually happening.
The two staff interactions seemed noticeably inconsistent, and the messaging around expectations was unclear. I’ve attached a photo of how my kids were positioned when we were approached, just to offer a fuller picture of the situation.
I do believe moments like this can be an opportunity to strengthen communication and improve guest experience- especially for families who truly want to engage with art respectfully. Unfortunately, in this case, the follow-up response felt more like a doubling down than an acknowledgment, so I’ve adjusted my review accordingly.
Update after the theft accusation- To be clear, neither I nor my family were involved in any theft- this accusation is completely false and deeply disappointing. I shared an honest review based on our experience, which was my daughter’s request on her birthday. To have that met with slander rather than reflection is unfortunate.

I take full responsibility for the energy I bring into every space, and I’m very aware of the energy in return. Energy doesn’t lie, and neither do I.
May this recent full moon serve as an invitation to meet your shadows with compassion and awareness. That’s the real work- the kind that transforms experiences into opportunities for growth. I wish you clarity and healing on...
Read moreNot kid friendly! We stopped in here to check out the “Bug in a Box” display - my 11 year old kids love bugs. While there, we were followed closely with a negative vibe - the feeling was they were not welcome. Enough so that they felt uncomfortable in the gallery. We promptly left without looking at all the bugs. Bummer. Definitely do not bring...
Read moreThe Heard Gallery brings curated eclecticism to Telluride. Her jewelry is next level cool, and the fine art is joyful. So much more interesting than typical mountain town bear and wolf pictures. She’s thought of everyone, including kids, for whom she’s collected a suitcase of rocks to share with them. I highly...
