Review of: Riverview Park
This is a magnificent park. Parking is a pain but worth it. It has fishing, waking paths, restrooms, 50 ft climbing tower, climbing structures (a climbers haven), cement slide, a real zip line, and a huge splash pad that is gated. The sprays from the splash pad produce rainbows that the children can run through. That is very enchanting. Only one climbing structure is covered in shade by an overhead tent. There is a lot of shaded covering over the central picnic areas.
Holding tables for organized parties are discouraged unless you paid for one of the 2 reserve able Ramadas. Many people bring their own tables, chairs, tents for shade and barbecue and set up on many of the slopes surrounding the play area.
Olive trees are planted around the hill tops and sides. Wonderful Orchid trees line the path from the park to the lake. Canadian Geese can be seen often out on the water.
Extra parking can be found across Dobson in the Riverview shopping center. On a Cubs practice day during the month of March. Expect to pay $7 for parking in the park until after the game has started. This includes the Handicapped parking. I included a 2014 posting of the expected Cubs games for the rest of March.
There are many fast food places across the street to buy a quick meal and then enjoy it in the park. A Dollar store is right across the street for fast access to water toy to use in the splash pad. A Walmart is in that plaze too for towels and supplies.
Because it is a very popular park, It can get very crowded at lunch and dinner times. Mornings is the best time to enjoy this park if you don't care for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a wonderful park in downtown Tempe right on the Tempe Town Lake/Salt River. Itās a great place to spend time. There is open space for picnics, access to the water and a long walking trail. If you walk the trail far enough towards the west you can go across the pedestrian bridge and get great views of the lake and surrounding area. On the other side of the lake from the main park thereās also another walking trail and open space. If you enjoy the outdoors and seeing water this is the place for you. Downtown Tempe is very beautiful and nice and this park is a good feature of it. I would say itās one of the best spots for sunrise and sunset in the area besides climbing up a mountain. If you live here or are visiting the state this park is good spot to come hangout. When I visited in early September the exchange club had setup hundreds and hundreds of US Flags in memorial for the victims of 9/11. It was beautiful and Iām glad I got to see that. There is also other events held at this park...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was a beautiful park, it was the first time my family and I had been here. We came for the boat parade for Christmas since they decorate them and we luckily got close enough that we were able to see the boats but there were hundreds of others behind us who had no view of them what so ever. For some reason they didn't send the boat parade through the entire lake it was only the front third of it before they turned around and left. They also only had like five food trucks and the lines were roughly 75-100 people long each. I had very high hopes for this event but I felt that they just didn't quite deliver. The parade was only thirty minutes long and if you were past the railroad you were not able to see it. Overall I would go back for the beauty of the area but...
