When I initially came to the restaurant for the first time last night, I saw a paper menu at the register. I ordered some food and it was when the girl told me the price that I knew something was wrong. However I just paid and simply asked for a receipt assuming it was taxes and the cashier had an attitude and even had to be reminded by one of her co-workers to give me my receipt. When I looked at the receipt I noticed the prices on the menu were less than what I was charged. So at that point I told the cashier that I was overcharged. At first she claimed it was taxes even though below it showed that taxes was only the was only 1 dollar, the she said the price was changed and that was an old menu... Yet she purposely placed it there for customers to view while also has an extra stack of those same menus ready to be handed out instead of the QR code for the updated menu which I found later... When I pointed out that it basically counts as false advertisement, she snapped back and said" do you want the food or not." I initially was just planning on getting back the difference between the items on each menu but I started to feel uncomfortable and said I want to refund one the items. The manager came over and after him trying to excuse the matter over the company changing the price rather than taking accountability for advertising the old menu eventually he gave me a refund but when I sat down I realized he shortchanged me. As I was approaching the register to talk to the manager, the cashier girl came with my food including the salad that I had already gotten a refund for. She asked me if I wanted it and I politely declined, to which she huff and puff went to the kitchen, slammed the salad on the counter and started talking crap about me to the cook. I could tell she was because the second she turned around and realized I was right behind her, her face dropped. To think I was about to change my mind on the salad to be nice. However seeing that attitude I don't even trust if she didn't spit in my food. That's an anxiety nobody should have coming to a restaurant. At that point I just simply asked her if I could get the change that I was still owed from the refund, she brought over another co-worker and told him that I had a problem with a price rather than telling him the truth that she was trying to scam people with the old menu while rolling her eyes. When I explained the situation to the coworker, the cashier walked away talking smack which I told her co-worker she needs to check her attitude and that I dealt with it for long enough and that's inappropriate. The other co-worker replied" It's not our fault we don't control the prices." Even though they're consciously advertising the wrong ones and it's not my fault that y'all advertise the wrong price and I simply want a refund. He also said "it's barely a dollar it's not a big deal." IT DOESN'T MATTER IT'S THE PRINCIPLE, A REFUND IS RETURNING THE (FULL) AMOUNT THAT CUSTOMER PAYED FOR AN ITEM THEY'RE NO LONGER WANTING. Eventually the dude came around and gave a dollar back. I'm guessing they didn't have change. The food wasn't bad but sadly the best things about the place was the karaoke, the jockey, and the other people who were having a good time. However I shouldn't have to warn the person behind me to double-check the double the prices. Mind you all three of them (the cashier, the coworker and manager) saw me look at this old menu and nothing. Luckily I was sober but I feel bad for all of the people who were drunk and purposely given the old menu who were too out of it too notice.Unfortunately this was my first time here and personally with all that BS it's not worth 10 dollars entry for horrible service and a bad experience. I'll go to a free...
Read moreI'm rating this place 3 stars, because not everything I'm about to say is negative. However, I recently moved here to Arizona a few months ago and I was looking for a good karaoke spot. I saw that this place does it every single night which I loved so I made this place my second home, I rarely go anywhere else. I was happy here. I'm giving food rating a 1 because tho I don't order much food here, the few times that I did, it did not meet expectation. Service is okay, depending on who's serving. I remember once standing at the bar, hadn't ordered my drink yet, but the bartender looked me straight in the face, then grabbed the order of the guy next to me, then moved on to other people before finally getting to me.. That was nothing, but recently, I've noticed a vibe change, specifically with one of the bartenders.. I'm not sure what the reason exactly was, but I'm pretty intuitive, and when I noticed, I reached out to said bartender to ask him what was going on.. This person said they thought some negative things about me. In an effort to clear things up, I requested maybe a sit down sometime. That never happened, but this bartender persisted to kinda ice me out a little bit. Eventually I started to kinda notice a shift with a couple more employees. I didn't like it. I liked this place and it was causing disharmony. Anyway, last night I went and immediately at the door, the security guard told me I was being 86'd. I asked him why and he didn't have an answer for me, just that someone gave him a text not to let me in. I don't understand why.. If I had to make a guess, I'd say it was because the last time I was there, every time I ordered a drink, whoever got my order closed my tab. They all know me there, I never close my tab til the end. However, I kept all of my receipts because I thought instead of tipping on every receipt, I'd make one big one on my last drink.. I didn't get the chance to do that. Not that I wasn't gna honor it, I simply forgot, and I usually tip anything, but at least 10%. The only other thing I can think of is, there's a door fee of $10 min which gives you a tab voucher.. Sometimes I save my vouchers. Previously, I took some of my accumulated vouchers to pay for some of my drinks in a night. I asked a bartender if that was allowed, I never had a problem before but he said no.. I really thought maybe he was messing with me (he's the one that was icing me out before). So this last time I was there I tried it and they said no again. I didn't point it out, but I also wasn't given tickets at the door that night.. I'm not sure why someone wouldn't still be able to use previous vouchers they get at the door of their establishment. They knew those were their tickets and I have enough integrity not to go out n purchase tickets just to get in.. So now I've got 3-4 unused tickets in my purse that should have gone to being able to buy my drinks/food (equal to $30-40).
I loved this place and from time to time I brought in business. My friends as well as people on the street who were debating coming in because of the entry fee. I actually thought the system is genius.. most places charge an entry fee with nothing in return for it. Idk what happened and I'd have loved to figure it out, but I just wish that if I was doing something wrong, that someone could have just told me what it was so I could fix it, instead of just not allowing me in without...
Read moreFinishing up our trip to Scottsdale that we make regularly, this year was a sad one when we learned our favorite bar in Scottsdale had closed down. We tried karaoke in Oldtown but the crowd and ambiance really wasn’t what we were looking for. We were recommended to check out 414. We were a little hesitant considering it was considered to be in the college hang out area and we felt like we were a little to “seasoned” for that kind of atmosphere . We couldn’t have been more wrong! They do ask you to purchase a drink ticket at the door, but you can use that to redeem the exact monetary worth on your tab. The interior was so creative with song lyrics written all around, disco lights were on to really create a fun karaoke experience, staff was so friendly and fun, and the bartender Ricky can REALLY sing! The highlight of this all was that our absolute FAVORITE bartender from the bar that shut down in Oldtown Scottsdale just so happened to be the DJ!!!! Just when we thought we couldn’t appreciate Luis more, he did what he does and was absolutely awesome as a DJ, he kept the list going at a good pace, kept the energy up, loved the interaction with the singers and the crowd, made everyone feel so welcome to sing no matter their skill level, sang “happy birthday” and brought out a fun shaped pizza for someone celebrating their birthday, he was absolutely incredible as we have experienced before. We hope the owner reads this, you really struck gold with Luis, but your entire staff deserves a mention too, they were amazing. So glad we stopped in, definitely turned around the heart break we experienced when we first arrived in town, 414 has now become one of our “must stop” places anytime...
