Extremely Frustrating Experience for Uber Drivers and EV Users
Last night, I had an incredibly upsetting experience at the Denver Premium Outlets. As an Uber driver, I rely on Electrify America chargers to work overnight, but I was locked inside the parking lot while charging my car. This is unacceptable for anyone who needs access to the eight charging stations, whether they’re working late like me or road-tripping through the area.
Electrify America’s chargers do not indicate restricted hours, but the mall’s gates were closed during my two-hour charging session. I was able to drive in and plug in, only to find myself trapped after the security guard locked the gates. At no point did I see the guard check the area before securing the property, which is a critical failure in their procedure.
Additionally, the emergency access phone number was not much help. When I called, I tried to describe the gate I was at, but because the gates are not numbered, it took the guard far too long to locate me and unlock the gate. This could have been avoided if the mall manager ensured gate hours aligned with Electrify America’s operating times or clearly marked the gates and trained security to properly check the property before closing.
For the sake of other drivers, especially EV users and those who work late hours, these issues need to be addressed immediately: Update Electrify America’s hours of operation to match the mall’s gate hours. Ensure security guards thoroughly check the property before locking the gates. Clearly number or label gates to expedite emergency access.
This experience left me feeling stressed and stranded, and I can only hope the management takes action to prevent this from happening to...

Read moreWent there on Sunday, the hours posted online said open until 7. Got there around 6 pm, half of the stores are already closed, some were starting to close and the managers of some of those stores were rude about the closing time. The Vans store in particular! My son and I tried going in and were abruptly stopped by what I assume was the manager, told us in a rude manner that they were already closed, even though the lights were still on, the door was unlocked and they still had a few customers in there. I asked the store associate, some young woman with dyed hair and facial piercings, if they are closed, why didn’t she tell the other customers to leave and why is she turning us away? She said “Well, they’re still shopping!” I looked at her and told her, that’s what my son and I would like to do, yet she turns us away. I then said to her “I guess you don’t want any business if you like to turn people away!” She didn’t say anything, just gave me a blank dumbfounded stare. I find out later from an associate at the Journeys store that this mall is in a transition phase, going from holiday hours to normal hours. I had asked her why isn’t that information posted both online and on every door of every store in this mall. She didn’t know. I think it would be greatly beneficial for this mall to do have the holiday hours posted both online and on every store door. Castle Rock’s outlet mall does that, why can’t this one? I think when it comes to outlet mall shopping, I will stick with Castle Rock. It’s a much better outlet mall in so many ways besides keeping up to date with posting...
