I guess firstly this review is more for GameStop as a whole than the store specifically. Everyone was polite, even the lady towards the end of this review when I was as rude as I ever get to people. This review also has nothing to do with the low value for trades, as that is nearly the same everywhere (Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop all offered within 10% of each other).
Recently I decided to upgrade from my original Day One Edition X Box One to a new One S. The day I planned to do this(10/20/16), I stopped by this store to see if they had the console I wanted in stock and to confirm trade in values for what I had. I left telling them I needed to check with my wife to make sure she was cool with a frivolous electronic upgrade. She was so I called back later to confirm I was coming back and to hold the last Battlefield Edition console they had in stock.
I get home from work, pop on my XBox and factory wipe it. Because who would trade in electronic devices with their credit card data stored on it? Grab all the wires and games I wanted to get rid of and head out.
I get there, the lady working plugs it in and powers it on. She says, "Oh you wiped this...". I say, "Of course I wiped it." She tells me we can't take this system like this, we have to check "memory". I tell her, it's 500GB... the lowest the system was ever made with, also I know you can get this info by looking at the outside of the device. She says she can't do anything, and tries to tell me that they "personally reset the consoles in the store" so I shouldn't worry about it. We go back and forth a little more as I try to figure out the point of this policy, one I still don't understand.
Anyhow, I left and drove across the parking to Best Buy and complete my trade and transaction in about 5 minutes.
The worst part is I talked to an employee in person and a guy who appeared to be a manager (maybe even the store manager) for about 10 minutes earlier in the day and was never told of this policy. I also called to reserve the new console and it was still never mentioned by the same girl I spoke with 30 minutes earlier.
So moral of the story... GameStop has a monumentally idiotic trade in policy on consoles and cost themselves $350 in sales plus the $100 they would make by selling my old system I guess, just be aware of this policy, one that for me is a...
Read moreI went here a couple years ago and wanted to purchase two games. I grabbed them off the shelf and went to purchase them but was told they didnât have it in stock. Disappointing, but not a huge deal. I just donât understand why you would display them if you donât actually have them. Went back to this location for the first time since then (only because I donât shop over there often) I wanted to buy a game that was only $10. Unfortunately, I didnât have my card on me and only had 4 $1 bills and a $100 bill. Was informed that the cashier didnât have enough money in the drawer to split it. I understand that breaking the bill down that much is a little excessive but itâs all I had. Walked out again without buying anything. What store doesnât have a safe or something to break a large bill? On top of it the cashier was...
Read moreGameStop has gone through a lot of changes over the years, some good, some bad. I've been shopping at this location since it was EB Games. Naturally, the staff has changed several times as well. Currently, the staff at this location is great. Most notably, Taylor was incredibly helpful, pleasant, and professional and during a busy holiday shopping season. I've also had great interactions with Zach. A retail store is nothing without good staff to provide pleasant interactions with customers. Taylor and Zach are doing a great job at this. GameStop will continue to change along with the rest of the video game market, but hopefully this location will continue to be managed well along with hiring and training people like Taylor and Zach. They make me want to keep shopping...
