So we had our first encounter today while with Mila, I totally felt like my family was being profiled in a way!? Now with warmer weather approaching weâre able to finally be out and about with Mila and venture more with her while taking her to different places, Because weâve been so cooped up! And now finding out Mila has been diagnosed with autism our lives have changed so going out in public with our 2 year old who has sensory overload to public places is one of our many challenges, So as her teachers we have to teach her how to overcome certain things and thatâs why with the help from her ABA and speech therapists sheâs learning social skills right now and knowing what she can and cannot do while weâre out, So we let her explore at different places and stores. Mila has a tendency to need to touch everything and all objects because she physically needs to in her world, It may not make sense to others but it makes sense to her! But we never disrupt or destroy any stores or anything we make sure everything is left just as it was and we definitely put it right back in the right spot of whatever she may have grabbed or âtried to line upâ so long story short is, This employer apparently kept starring at us and watching our every move as if we looked like we were going to steal!? Danny noticed this but I payed no attention because we were not doing anything bad? Mila was just looking at all the toys and if she did mess anything up I put it back exactly as it was so she couldnât even be mad at us for messing the toy section up because again we put it right back, there was not a mess at all!? But after a few minutes Mila ventured over to the books right by the register then saw this really cool toy that made noise when u pressed the tabs, Apparently this employer had enough of us âlooking aroundâ and while teaching Mila itâs ok to touch but not grab items and called us out by finally saying rudely while in the middle of ringing a customer, And asked are we looking for something or need anything particular with this disgusted look on her face!? I politely said no thank you where just browsing while teaching our daughter social skills and she then turned her back away to finish with her customer, I sensed this completely rude vibe and energy from her and feeling not wanted at this store. Moral to my story is this lady had no idea our daughter is autistic and has special needs, So never judge a book by its cover and be more excepting to others because you donât know there story! This opened my eyes to a bigger picture and this is why we need to spread awareness and be more understanding with people on...

The first employee was behind the register, I politely said âexcuse me?â And the face she made, you wouldâve thought I asked her for her left toe. âWhereâs your bathroom?â She looked absolutely mortified that I could be asking her a question. She told me where it was, I went and continued to shop. We then needed an elevator. So we walked around and looked for an employee. My mother found one and said âexcuse meâ. The lady made eye contact with my mother and walked away. I then walked behind her and said excuse me and she said yes? As she continued to walk in the opposite direction. I said, âif itâs not too much to ask, can you please tell me where the elevator is?â hurriedly she told me where I could find it. And before I could say thank you, she was gone. I found an item that I wanted to buy, so I began looking for a cash register. Being that this was my first time there I really didnât know where they were. So as I was looking, another employee came up behind me, and said âcan I help you?â And I say âyes! I am looking for a register!â she then took the item out of my hand, without saying anything. And then began to walk away and said, âfollow me. Sometimes the registers fade into the rest of the store.â
I donât know if these ladies were just having an off day or what, but every interaction I had with an employee was...
Read moreGreat store with incredibly helpful employees. I bought a dress for my sonâs wedding with the assistance of a very nice sales team. I came back for my alterations appointment (dress needed shortening) and was attended to by Bee, the tailor, who was very nice, patient and helpful. I had brought with me the shoes I had planned to wear, but was not crazy about, and asked several people (employees and customers) in the dressing room area their opinion, with mixed responses. One of the salespeople (I wish I had gotten her name) asked my shoe size, and went up to the shoe dept with the dress and brought back 2 pair, one which we all loved with the dress, looked much better than the originals, and were way more comfortable. She also made it possible for me to purchase them in the dress dept rather than having to go to shoes. I was very impressed that the alteration fee was only $15 (would have been complimentary but there was s ruffle involved)! I was also in the purse section looking for an evening bag. Although I did not find what I was looking for, the sales lady there was also very attentive. I have purchased a few special occasion dresses at Von Maur and have been consistently pleased with the selection and the employees. Itâs nice in this era of online shopping (which I do frequently) to have such a great store in the area, with employees that go above and beyond the norm to help...
