This year our daughter out grew her skis and boots. We went to Alpin Haus on Black Friday to save some money. We received 20% off, yet you are still talking over $500 for skis and boots. The sales person we had was very nice and said the skis would be ready in a week. I didn't hear from them after that week and my daughter asked if I had. I told her I didn't, so mid week I told her I would call. When I called, I talked with our sales person again and the skis / bindings were in line to be mounted next. He confirmed they should be done by the weekend.
The weekend came and went with other things, so I called mid week again. The sales person I had answered again and he was going to check on them for me. After about 5 minutes later, he comes back and was in a slight panic mood and I could tell something wasn't right.
The sales person came back and said there seems to be an issue and mentioned he could be back in a few minutes. When the sales person came back, he mentioned that there seems to be a part missing from the bindings. They could get it from their Amsterdam store and have them the next day.
I am thinking to myself after I hear the part issue, why is it taking me 2 calls to get a answer about the skis and now finding out there is an issue? Shouldn't I have received a call from Alpin Haus to tell me of the issue? That would have been fine, but now I am a little aggravated to say the least.
I asked our sale person, could I speak with a manager about this issue?
A few minutes went by and I get John. John has to be a young man from his voice and non-responsiveness in the ability to carry on a conversation. If I was texting him, he probably could have had a conversation with me. I explained my issue and got really no response other than they would be ready later that night. I mentioned to John that I would give him until Friday, since I really didn't believe they would be ready. I then said, if they were not ready Friday, I will expect a full refund.
The skis were ready later that night and I did pick them up on Friday.
Now I need to let others know, there is really no after the sale customer service with Alpin Haus. They only care about getting your money for the sale and don't care about you after.
I talked with a manager Rich that I usually talk with when in doing business with them. Nice guy, told him about this issue. He mentioned he heard about it, but there was nothing he could do. He said next time come see me. I told him there won't be a next time. There are other shops in the area, I'll just have to find another one to do business with on a regular basic, like I had done with Alpin Haus.
If you are in the market for new skis and equipment, shop around and look else were. Alpin Haus you can relate to a car salesman, they want your initial business, but if there is an issue, sorry we can't help you.
I just pray to God, that the skis and bindings are OK when my daughter uses them. Otherwise, they aren't going to want to deal with me again.
Again, shop around and...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. This is the second time editing this review because I feel like I need to explain. We scheduled a snowboard fitting for our 5 year old online on October 19th for November 2nd at 4:15. We had to drive an hour to get there. Our day lasted a little longer than normal today so I called to reschedule for a later time because we weren’t going to be able to make it by 4:15. It was great that they could reschedule for the same night at 5:30. I spoke to a staff member at 4:00 and they said our later appointment was all set. He new who I was and what equipment we needed, right then he could have told us there were no more snowboards. When we were finally called for our fitting the staff member asked our daughter if she has skied before, I then said she’s getting a snowboard. Unfortunately, they waited until this moment to say they had no snowboards or boots that would fit her. So we left very disappointed and frustrated because our daughter was really looking forward to it. We found out after reading this reply that the staff member rescheduled us for a ski fitting instead of snowboard, that wasn’t our doing. Also, we thought “Childs snowboard (3-5 children)” was the age of the child not how many kids. The staff members were a bit rude and the overall experience was very unpleasant. If you don’t have the one thing that the customer needs then you should have called us or told us when we called before we left that “hey we don’t t have any snowboards at the moment”. Your store new we were scheduled for this appointment since October 19th!! That gave plenty of time for you to notify us. It would have saved us from having a disheartened daughter and such a bad experience that lead to this review. I hope you take this review into consideration for anyone else scheduled for...
Read moreI recently purchased new ski boots at Alpin Haus in Clifton Park. Rich Vokatis was patient and thorough. I bought a high end pair of boots that fit snug in the shop, but I quickly realized on the mountain they had compressed to much for stable skiing. Rich not only allowed me to swap my boots problem free (as I didn't bring my receipt), he spent a great deal of time finding a boot that fit. He further customized my fit with heat sensitive orthotic. This was a much better experience compared to the last ski shop I purchased my ski equipment. Not only did they do a sub-par job with my boot fit, when I tried to return them they tried to bandaid my boot issues (pressure points) with tricks like cutting out padding and trimming my insert resulting in less insulation in my boots. Ultimately, after a year of going back to them for assistance, they finally said "you should have returned them" (sigh). Alpin Haus made buying boots for my small, narrow feet a stress free process!
In addition, my husband found their pricing to be fair with the purchase of twin tip skis for our son. While we could find comparable equipment online for slightly less, he felt Alpin Haus' pricing was well worth the knowledgeable customer service and hassle free support.
I recommend Alpin Haus for selection, pricing and...
