I bought a phone case and screen protector for about $50. Long story short they were both incorrectly labeled with stickers by best buy not the product’s companys as “compatible with iPhone 15Pro” but they were too big to fit my iPhone 15Pro. I am a social worker at a nursing home for nuns and work 12 hour shifts on top of working a second job so I am very tired and did not bother to open the products until 2 weeks after the return policy was past because I did not anticipate I’d have to return them. After all, they said right on the box they were compatible with my specific phone. I went to best buy and explained they were 2 weeks past the return date and Ken the supervisor was, at first, kind to me and said it was no problem and he would accept my returns. Once he realized the screen protector had been opened he said he was not able to accept the return. I was very calm and polite and asked him how I would’ve know an employee had mislabeled the box without opening it. He said it didn’t matter and I could try to contact otterbox. This isn’t Otterbox’s problem, Best Buy mislabeled the product, not them. I did not want to waste my time trying to get help from otterbox when I don’t think they would help me. I pointed out in my settings that my iPhone was in fact the 15Pro and both boxes said “compatible with 15Pro” and he said it didn’t matter. Actually he repeatedly said “I don’t know why you’re pushing back when I’m trying to help you” and “you’re going about this the wrong way” despite my calm and polite demeanor. He was getting pretty upset with me and although he initially said he would accept the phone case because it hadn’t been opened he changed his mind and told me he would no longer be accepting either product because “I was pushing back and going about this the wrong way” I said thank you, I will be shopping at Amazon only from now on, and I left. I filed a chargeback with my credit card company for receiving the incorrect merchandise and after explaining the situation to my credit card company I am confident this will be an open closed case. It’s too bad Ken wouldn’t accept even the one return because now, to no fault of my own, bestbuy will lose money and to my knowledge I will not be obligated to return the mislabeled product that they could have sold again. I will be offering both items up for free when my dispute is finalized. Bestbuys only edge over companies like Amazon is their customer service and higher quality products and they failed on both of those...
Read moreThis review is mostly about the Geek Squad subsidiary. Firstly, there’re really 2 Geek Squads: Real Geek Squad and Fraudster Geek Squad. Both of them are affiliated with each other. My question was and is: How come Fraudster Geek Squad knows Real Geek Squad’s schedules with its customers and the names of the visiting technicians? Real or Fraudster Geeks kept changing the appointments a few times and Fraudster Geek Squad rang me to demand a prepay of $200 via a Target Gift Card before the technician would come over? At that point, I knew what was going on and thought okay, let’s give them enough rope. I left my cell in the car and went into Target and bought it knowing that I would give it to my child, alerted Target’s manager and requested that they ring 911. Target didn’t want to get involved, so put them on your radar. Returned to my car and Fraudster Geek Squad was still on the line and he requested the number of the gift card, which I refused to give and told him that they were fraudsters. I thought for sure that they knew that I knew, but alas. Our no-good police force, The New Castle Police Department in New York, were absolutely disinterested in this matter. The police force are really stupid and indifferent to crime. Sure enough the technician arrived at the appointed time that both Real and Fraudster Geek Squad knew about. I rang the police, who grudgingly came and thought that it was just a big nothing. Back when I worked in Finance at a high end retailer I had to deal with our Security Department daily as well as all of our insurance brokers and even met with one them and the underwriters when I went to London on holiday. With my experience, I should be speaking with trained detectives and not one dimensional thinking uniforms.
After I returned home from Target, I googled “Geek Squad and Fraudster” and what popped up was the FTC site discussing the very same experience that I had just experienced with Fraudster Geek Squad. I also discovered bad issues with Best Buy and their shady practices. My conclusions: never do business with Geek Squad, Best Buy and never move to Chappaqua full of dreadful residents, a faltering and greedy School District and an ignorant and stupid Police Department. Also, Target gets what it deserves when we watch the news about their shoplifting and assortments...
Read moreNot best for finding any good selection and for great deals at that. You'll be finding almost all the associates, more so, showing (pushing nicely) you much higher priced products instead of listening to you when you specifically say you want to only be shown low priced ones. And they do so since they don't stock well on lower priced electronics, just on much higher prices ones that normally, more so, sit around. If you happen to see low priced electronics still available, be leery of that, it tells you some others have it and doesn't work well. I had brought something low priced, and it doesn't completely work as it NORMALLY supposed to. Looked up on it, and found its not that great (unless some in their reviews are paid or free promotion has them say otherwise), and is what you get for the price. I wasn't expecting top-notched, but for certain functions to perform normally than it has that others functions work fine for the price. And to add it's like this no matter what other Best Buys I've been to. If anyone gives Best Buy anything 4 and above stars must be paid or promotion to say nice things, or are rich enough to afford, to get you to come. There are a couple of other electronic stores much better all around; better selection, better prices and when they have some sales, better associates working there that are so helpful and listen to your concerns to try to get what your specifically looking for, and price range, or find another associate who can for a particular dept or other. Even if not in store try to help you find on their computer on their online store or another of their stores to see if they may have it in stock if you may want to go there to get it instead of online. The only thing that's good is that Best Buy has a geek squad, but others as well do too of their own if you need something, more so, a computer, laptop, or...
