I went here because it was a good price and it was playing a movie that no other AMC was playing .
The first things I noticed was how big and retro it was and how incredibly dirty it was.
The staff was friendly but also clearly didnt care about their jobs. The ticket guy was super nice and was knowledgeable but that's really it. We got there 2 hours early and in the 2 hours we waited all the cleaning staff did was stand around and talk , despite the theater being an absolute mess.
There was dust and dirt everywhere, random trash and stains on the seats in the waiting area and sticky floors. Normally, if a theater was like this I would just assume it was a busy day and the staff didn't get to it yet but the place was empty and clearly the staff had plenty of time so I don't know what happened.
Surprisingly, the cleanest place in the theater was the bathrooms; which are HUGE and well kept. Why are bathrooms so clean when the rest of the theater looks horrid? The world may never know...
Besides the dirt, the biggest problem was the food. It's cheaper than other other AMC theaters (which isnt saying much since the average for a large drink and popcorn in other locations is $20) but the popcorn was BAD and a possible health hazard. We ordered a popcorn and it tasted weird and had black stuff in it. For those who don't know or don't live in the area, this theater has a history with rats. So, when I saw this I was a little more than concerned and immediately threw the popcorn out.
On the bright side, the drink machine was pretty cool . It's one of the new ones that have a ton of options.
The interior of the lobby area is super cool to look at. I love retro things and I love how this theater has a 80s/90s vibe . Sadly, its sorta falling apart in places, so it really needs to be either refurbished and kept clean or completely updated.
There's a tiny arcade area that's kinda cute and really wish they took better care of it. It was so nostalgic and cool to see but sadly most of the games were dirty and not well kempt (sorta like the rest of the theatre)
The theater itself wasn't very crowded compared to other places , which was a nice change.
The seats are not the reclining but were VERY comfy. (*Also its not one of those places that you pick your seats when you buy your ticket) The screen and sound was pretty good too.
It's unfortunate how unkempt this theater is because it really could be great with proper care. As it is right now, I wouldn't suggest it as a first choice unless you're really in the need for some quiet movie theater nostalgia for a low price . It's just so dirty that you might as well just pay a couple extra bucks and go down the street to a clean updated theater with dine-in food service, reclining seats and a bar. Besides, after going here you'll probably need a drink. Pros: 80s/90s vibe (if you like retro things), not crowded compared to other theatres, very cool inferior design, great sound and screen, comfy seats, friendly staff, plays unquie movies, cool drink machine, cheaper price compared to other AMCs in the area
Cons: VERY DIRTY (expect for in the bathrooms for some odd reason) , possible rodent problem, disgusting food, not updated to standards of other AMC theaters, lackadaisical staff (even if they...
Read moreI never review things badly but this visit was so disappointing. The TLDR is: long/inefficient wait times, dirty & outdated theatre conditions, sound quality so extremely faulty it caused migraines and could not be handled causing multiple walk outs. It began alright, it was fairly busy, a few people on line and a few on the kiosks which do not accept cash so we got on line. There was only one employee accepting customers and the crowd began to grow quickly as each transaction took quite long. Our movie time was nearing but no other employees were placed at the other registers, even though there were three other employees standing behind the desks just watching. After about 15 minutes on line we finally reach the register and now an employee begins taking others at the other side but only for help with the kiosks.
The transaction took forever, we were barely able to make the movie. We hurry to the theater only to find the chairs are incredibly old, squeaky, dirty, and uncomfortable, the room smelled like a combination of old urine and vomit, and worst of all the speakers blaring through the room were making screeching noises with every sound that came through them. It gave some of us headaches and unfortunately it was so insistent and strong that it really ruined the movie for us, we among a few other groups had to leave the room and go speak to someone about the issue. The man who tried to help us was very kind, and in no way do I think it was his fault. It's not his fault that the building isn't updated or fixed. He tried for about 20 minutes to fix the sound issue in some back room but it persisted and he apologized for the problem. He gave us refunds (kind of) in the form of AMC credit. I was hoping to get my money back because there are plenty of other theatres that ensure a wonderful experience around the area but I hope that the next time we try AMC it won't go...
Read moreI just wanted to say there was so many things wrong with this theater from the seats that were on its last limb to this weird odor throughout the theater. As we got there the fire alarm went off and everyone evacuated and fortunately we thought it was a system error and then went back in and went to get seated for our 7:45 movie. But to top the icing on the cake on this night we went on June 6th to watch the new Karate Kids Legends Showing at 7:45 PM. So anyways after 45 minutes of ads the move finally starts at 8:30 and then at around 8:50 the fire alarm goes off once again, at this point it was discovered that there was a group kids purposefully vaping and putting there vape near the alarm so they can make the alarm go off. We all evacuate once again and this time are outside for a while. THEN they say oh we are going to be closing till we get the clear from the fire department 10 seconds later they go "ALL CLEAR" we go back in now our 3rd time and the movie is about to start again and then BOOM fire alarm goes off again for its 3RD TIME within 1 hour because of these kids who were vaping who they "supposedly" couldn't catch. We all evacuate I leave my snacks behind thinking we would be going back in for a 3rd time but they come out and go were closed for the rest of the night and all the movies got cancelled, and I wasn't allowed to grab the stuff I left behind. No to self NEVER EVER GO TO AMC RACEWAY unless u want to just do anything but watch the movie u paid for. And they refused to refund us there we have to write an email just to get our refund back hoping AMC does something but just wanted to say how disappointed I am I have never went to such a bad movie theater before the staff had no control the theater is poorly maintained and the fact they couldn't even get the kids on the 3rd time is wild to me. But anyways I hope this...
