I live only 15 minutes away and go shopping all the time at Roosevelt Field Mall, so I am very familiar with the area. But I had never stayed here. After being cooped up for 6 months due to COVID-19, I decided to book a suite here so that my daughter and I can lounge by the pool. Plenty of parking; beautiful, clean building, and check-in was easy, (they check your temperature at check-in and make you fill out a COVID symptom form). The room has very high ceilings which makes it feel extra roomy, and the decor was very modern and chic. The room was spotless and has a large fridge, microwave, and glasses, plates, and utensils. The bathroom was large with a double sink. They provide 2 bathrobes that were very soft and comfortable. The pool was great and there is plenty of space to social distance (it never really gets crowded) There are plenty of lounge chairs and they even have some cabana beds. Pool towels are provided at the entrance of the pool. In the afternoon, the bar is set-up so that you can order food and drinks. The spicy margarita and the summer mojito were so good. The pool opens at 9:00 and closes at 8:00 p.m. There is no room service, as this is not a hotel, but you can order food from plenty of places in the area and have it delivered. FYI - I paid extra money to have a suite that had a "terrace" that leads to the pool. However, the gate that connects the terrace to the pool was locked. When I asked about this they said that past guests have tried to sneak into the pool after hours, so they locked the entrances; therefore, we had to go out through the lobby to access the pool when we could have just gone from our terrace. I hope they rethink this. Also, these are residential apartments... This is NOT a hotel. Only the first floor has suites that are rented out to the public. Therefore, most of the people you see around are residents. They are definitely a certain kind of people that live here (older, rich) and they all seem to know each other well and can tell who hotel guests are. They gave us weird looks the entire time and were at one point just staring at me when I was relaxing by the pool, which made me feel very uncomfortable. It's not my fault that you're paying $4,000 for a one-bedroom apartment that has amenities that you have to share with the public. Next time move to a building that doesn't do that :-)

My recent stay at the Hotel The Vanderbilt was an experience of highs and lows. On one hand, I appreciate that the venue accommodates both apartments and hotel rooms, making it a unique blend where you can mingle with locals at the bar. During our business trip, we lodged at the hotel section and found our room to be impressively spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The comfort level was top-notch. Additionally, the pool area was quite expansive, with ample chairs and umbrellas to accommodate guests. However, a design flaw quickly became evident. The pool is essentially cocooned by the hotel and apartments, which means it loses sunlight by approximately 4:30pm. As someone who cherishes evening sunbathing, this was a major letdown. My primary grievance, though, revolves around a concerning incident at check-in. As part of their protocol, they took a photocopy of my wife's driver's license. Having been a victim of identity fraud in the past, I felt it necessary to inquire about how the hotel manages the retention and eventual destruction of such personal documents. The initial reaction of the clerk was unsettling, as she seemed unprepared to address my concerns. Things took a further downward turn when the manager, Jake, was brought into the conversation. Rather than reassuring me about their safety protocols, he mentioned that other hotels he's visited did the same, which felt dismissive. When probed about the storage location of these copies, his vague response about it being "locked up in the back" was far from convincing. To add insult to injury, at checkout, our request for the return of the driver's license copy further exposed their casual approach to data protection. The clerk fished it out from a drawer at his desk, revealing other visible copies of guest IDs. This was in stark contrast to Jake's earlier claim that such documents were securely stowed in the back. While the hotel has commendable aspects in terms of comfort and aesthetics, their cavalier attitude towards data protection is a massive red flag. Sadly, it's the sole reason for this 2-star rating.

I’m very sorry to be giving this hotel such a bad review but our first night arriving from Florida. We had no heat in our room without the air sounding like a motorcycle being in the room. I called the front desk when we got back from visiting family with a busy day coming up the next day and they told us there were no other rooms for us to go to. There were no portable heaters no extra blankets no Nothing so we slept in the cold all night. It was freezing the night we arrived on 23 December. They told me the next day when I told him I was going to leave a bad review they would have it fixed. They did not. I will leave a video showing the night before we left on the 25th, which was Christmas Like I said I can’t believe I’m having to leave this review. The hotel is pretty. The rooms are big. There is not a lot of space to place your things in the bathroom. Other than that it’s a good place. The restaurant was not open while I was there so can’t comment on that But a disappointment overall for me. By the way, I called the front desk on the 24th. They told me they would refund the entire stay. I have not received any refund at all. I would’ve preferred something different but at this point, I think it’s terrible how we were treated. I was in room 102 which is right near the door going outside on the first floor might not have been so cold on the third floor in the middle? EDIT: I spoke to the manager (Natasha) yesterday and told her what happened. I received a refund. At this time I WILL recommend this hotel and possibly stay there during my next trip to the area. This hotel made things right. Thank you!

I was hesitant to write this review while we still live here but I just wanted to warn people before taking the plunge. This building is all smoke and mirrors, on the exterior it looks beautiful, grand lobby, great pool, BUT it ends there. Management is AWFUL! We have lived in high end luxury rentals for a bit as we move around often and we know the name of the game. This has been one of the most inexperienced staff we have ever dealt with. Emails aren’t responded to, if you need something to get done in your apartment youre looking at a 2-4 month wait. (My washigh machine has yet to be fixed from JUNE 2018!!!) The emails management send out are of bullying nature, they treat this building like a college dormatory. The cleaning staff, conceirge, and super are constantly changing as no one wants to work here for longer then a month or two (and while they work here they bad mouth management to tenants). In addition, staff often lingers by your door so you are obligated to give a tip for any sort of help. Tenants have complained of money being missing from their dwellings so I would tread lightly if you are thinking of putting a parent in this building as the elderly seem to be a target. Also if you are a hotel guest you should know that staff often takes naps in hotel rooms... gross. We moved in with our three year old and while living here we had a baby girl. The building is built in a way that the walls are paper thin, the tenants downstairs don’t really like families and bang with a baseball bat anytime we make any movement. This happens around 5-7x a week, and has gotten quite embarrassing when we have guests. Management has known of this issue since October and have not done anything to mitigate the issue with both parties. The tenant downstairs has cursed me and my children in front of management, and all managements response was “shes a hot headed italian”. If you have small children I say this whole heartedly STAY AWAY!!!! Although this building has a playroom it is NOT child friendly. We pay a ton of money to live here and instead of being warm and kind, they are ok with calling my three year old an “animal” and “spawn of satan” in what kind of world do people SPEAK THIS WAY!!!!??? As for lease renewal, they increase your rent by 20 percent annually, also find bogus reasons to not renew your lease, like if you make any sort of complaint. Again, management is not equipped to handle rhis many tenants. In my opinion, beachwood cheaped out and hired inexperienced management staff ( a former teacher 🤷🏻‍♀️) had they hired someone with more experience this building would Have the potential to be great. Overall, the building cheaps out in many ways hence why its not truly luxury and in my opinion will never be. FYI this building is also NOT dog friendly. While they say they welcome animals, theres literally no where to walk your dog, the restaurants garbage is everywhere ( see picture of dead fish attached) and makes for an unpleasant environment. My dog has never been more depressed then living here I suspect its because we walk him by a busy highway and he cant let out his pent up energy. This is a lengthy review but if I can help just one person from the turmoil I dealt with all year then I’d say its worth it. Please do yourself a favor and Dont move in to the vanderbilt. I promise...
