The manager Dan and the Assistant Manager, a female, have been being incredibly cruel to me during my last visits. I actually feel as if they have been harassing me. Itās really embarrassing and I began to feel uncomfortable even entering the store because they would often tell the cashiers not to serve me. On my last visit they pushed a shopping cart into me and began calling me by my first name despite us never having been introduced. Dan looked completely disheveled and i assumed that maybe he was experiencing a mental health crisis. They told me that theyāre going to tell the owner that I physically assaulted them in order to have me banned permanently. I donāt know who Dan or the lady is but I stopped going back once they told me that theyāre calling the sheriffs and telling them that Iām trespassing. I wanted for the sheriffs but they never showed up. A few months later I received a letter in the mail stating that I am banned for life from Loriās due to non-specified circumstances. I am relieved but I canāt seem to find the vitamins and nutrients that my body needs to feel healthy. I would spend about $90 per visit and I had been going to Loriās since I was very young with my family. Now I tell everyone to stay away for fear they will experience similar treatment. The dispute began innocently enough ā Dan insulted me and i rebutted him, but he became so furious that he and the AM began to accost me every time I visited afterward. I followed up with emails and with posts on your Facebook page but my emails were ignored and I was blocked from posting to the Facebook page. Very unsettling as I seem to have no recourse and if this happens to me then it probably happens to others as well. All the rest of the staff are exceptionally friendly and they always looked like they felt guilty whenever Dan would command them to refuse service to me. I just want to understand why I am hated so much by Loriās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love natural foods stores and have shopped at Lori's for years, but this weekend was the final straw. Over this last year I had 2 terrible visits in a row and decided to put 6 months or so in between to "cool off", hoping it was just a phase as it seems there have been numerous new faces there more so then in the past. This last weekend I ventured in for a visit as I did not want to drive to Buffalo to Whole Foods. I was walked by twice by employees scuffing their feet with no acknowledgement even though at one point I clearly could not find something I was looking for. I brought my own bag in which the cashier could not be bothered to pack for me as she needed to hug a coworker, and then appeared impatient with me as I needed to run my card again as it timed out for me to agree to pay the sale. INFURIATED, if I had not just finished packing my bag those items would of been left on the counter and I would of left. Seems to me a very similar thing happened the time before and that's why it took 6 months to go back in! I don't think I ever leave that place for less then $100- no complaints, quality food costs money. But no place makes me begrudge parting with my hard earned paycheck like Lori's and their terrible service. Cannot wait until Whole Foods is built and Rochesterians will learn how good selection and service really feel, and maybe we can say good bye...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've avoided writing this review for a while. I loved Lori's, even when we had to drive an hour & a half to get there.
I'm writing this for those wondering if they will be discriminated against for their medical exemption from masks. I have contacted numerous businesses and small businesses inquiring if I will be denied service because of my medical exemption. Even home goods stores will honor them. However at Lori's, a health food store, you WILL be denied service. The governor allowed medical exemptions with his mask mandate, acknowledging there are some of us who physically CAN NOT wear masks, for the health of ourselves AND OTHERS.
But Lori's, as a 'private business', will not acknowledge it, will publicly rebuke you (without socially distancing themselves) and remove you from the store with threats of calling the police if you do not comply by doing something that could harm you and others.
I would much prefer to support small businesses and I always 'socially distance', but I have never been harassed in any Wegmans, even Whole Foods in Buffalo. So, as I have already begun, I will search out the local brands from Lori's that we liked and buy from them directly. What I can't find, I will request other businesses to carry or find on Thrive Market...
