Sapsuckers is reliable. Small but cozy space, range of menu options, and a wild assortment of tap beers, wine and bourbon.
I have had amazing meals here and I have had meals here that have left me regretting my meal choice like crazy. The amazing meals WAY outweigh the regretful ones.
Must try items include: The Mallet Burger - SO GOOD. Great beef patty, brioche bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, and I ask for bleu cheese on top of that almost every time. Fries are thin cut, perfect array of crispy ones and soft ones, and they're always seasoned just right. Philly Cheese Steak - amazing. And big enough to guarantee you leftovers. Made the way a true philly cheese steak should be, tender cuts of meat and the perfect amount of cheese, onions and peppers. Mouth is watering thinking about it. Shwarma - I live in Astoria. I work in midtown Manhattan. I should be able to find the best shwarma possible in either of these places. No. sapsuckers does it best, by far. It is made so incredibly I can't put it into words. If you're into that kind of flavor, you must try.
Caution: the fish and chips are literal fish sticks. Not at all what I had been expecting. I didn't like them at all. Specials never catch my eye, not entirely sure why. The menu items always seem to blow them away, for me. Veggie burger is ok but VERY soft texture which is not appealing. A burger should have some crunch or solidity to it. This one does not. Still comes with the awesome fries so it's not an all out loss offering the "healthier" burger.
Try it. There will be a dynamic tap beer list, no doubt, and a number of wonderful food options. You...
Read moreI went here on 5/4/24. I ordered the Spring Shamrock, it wasn’t overly sweet which was much appreciated and felt strong (extra appreciated.) I didn’t exactly go for research purposes so I don’t have photos. I ordered the eggs nest which was 1.5 eggs(menu said it was 3 eggs but I assure you it was 3 egg HALVES) ,face down, in a big slurry of deviled egg yolk with a little spiciness. The presentation was less than sexy. They looked like they were drowning themselves to leave their misery. The flavor was fine, what you expect deviled eggs to taste like, but there wasnt enough egg white to egg yolk ratio so ended up just eating the slurry with a fork (needed the gelatinous white badly.) 13 dollars was a wild price. I also got the hummus and it was completely regular. Organic hummus with warm pita squares.. something you can definitely whip up at home for a quarter of the price. But they also didn’t work it up to be anything special sooo shame on me for expecting something interesting ? The wait staff and atmosphere was indeed nice though. This seems mean, nothing was BAD just...
Read moreWe've come here many times just to sit at the bar after dinner and have a few drinks, but have only come here once before for dinner. We love their whiskey cocktails and selection, they also have some good beers. This past weekend we came specifically for dinner and was very happy that we did. We shared nachos which were perfect in all ways. A great portion size, the right amount of cheese and toppings without being obnoxious. I had a mallet burger which was cooked perfectly rare and came on a bun that didn't overpower the plate and some nice home made shoestring fries. My fiance had the harvest salad with chicken which she loved. Chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The salad was dressed to perfection and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our server couldn't have been better. Never did he hover over us, but was always there as soon as we needed him.
We cant wait to...
