The public ice skating at Hammocks is set to close at 2:30pm. I showed up with my girlfriend at 2 to hopefully see if we could skate for half an hour with absolutely no intention on staying late or being uncooperative to the rules. We were met with heavy attitude and a woman telling us “there’s really no point in skating for 20-30 minutes but it’s up to you”. We felt that we weren’t being greeted warmly so we decide to leave and on the way back to the car (it’s now 2:10 at this point) we see the same lady get into her car and leave. Seems like she just wanted to go home early and not deal with us. Now let me end this rant by saying we would have been fine if they turned us down in a polite manner because, after all, it WAS late and they WERE closing in half an hour. However the standoffish attitude is what will prevent us from coming here ever again.
Instead we went to Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford were everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Read moreWe love the ice rink , but it’s time to change the instructor —a coach who name is Judith . My daughter is 4 years old and was having a group lesson on Sunday , we had been there before with this particular instructor yet she claimed did not remember us . After we came back from our vacation ( we skipped one lesson ) She proceeded to ignore my daughter to the point where she physically pushed her out of the group and left her alone on the side for almost the entire lesson ! I was so mad I kept trying to get her attention to ask her what was going on and she just motioned like she didn’t know who my daughter was or myself. This is completely unacceptable and outrageous behavior from any instructor towards any child that is in the rink. There is no public skating at the time so any child who is there is supposed to be in a group skating,it’s...
Read moreDecent rink with plenty of parking...just wish it wasn't such a hike to the rink. And the walk back to the car seems longer after a loss. :)
The concession stand stays open pretty late for us tired and hungry parents looking for a snack before a game. They don't skimp on the fries either.
The are seats in the lobby if you don't like to sit inside the cold rink area...and there is,plenty of seating inside as well. The stands are a bit rickety, especially up top and the view isn't great either with all the netting but it's ok.
As rinks go it's pretty good. My only complaint is the lack of WiFi for Internet access. Given the poor cellular reception (at least for Verizon) inside and outside this area, it would be nice to at least have some form of...
