As someone who has been a loyal member of Club Pilates for almost three years, I have mixed feelings about my experience, largely due to the administrative and customer service issues I encountered.
Firstly, I must emphasize that the Pilates classes and instructors at Club Pilates of New Hyde Park have been exceptional. I truly love the practice of Pilates and have benefitted greatly from the sessions I attended over the years. The community of fellow members and instructors has been wonderful, and that's what kept me coming back.
However, my recent attempt to transition to a different location closer to my home turned into a frustrating ordeal due to the club's inflexible policies and poor communication. When the new Club Pilates location opened in Fresh Meadows, I was eager to switch my membership. Unfortunately, the timing of the grand opening and my billing cycle did not align, leaving me unable to provide the required 30-day notice as stipulated by their policy.
This discrepancy led to numerous (19) attempts by Club Pilates of New Hyde Park to charge my card for services I was no longer using, despite my explicit notification of cancellation. The incessant billing attempts after my membership had been made inactive were not only frustrating but also reflected poorly on the club's customer service. My credit card has been block since I was informed I will be charged another month.
Furthermore, the billing structure itself is confusing. The discrepancy between class selection dates (from the 1st to the 30th) and the actual billing cycle (from the 15th to the 15th) resulted in me feeling unfairly charged for services beyond what I was able to utilize. I lost weeks of classes that I paid for in March.
In summary, while I highly value the Pilates program and the people I've met at Club Pilates of New Hyde Park, I caution potential members to thoroughly read and understand the membership policies before signing up. The lack of clarity and flexibility in administrative matters has marred an otherwise positive experience for me. If you do decide to join, ensure you are fully aware of the club's policies and billing practices to avoid the frustrations I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInstructors are great, management is completely unempathetic. As a business owner who provides customer service on a daily basis, I show more courtesy to my patients than they have to me. There's their ridiculous policy of being considered a "no show" even when you arrive a few minutes late - because there was an accident on the road and a 10 minute ride turned to a 30 minute nightmare. I not only wasn't allowed into the class, I was also charged a "no show" fee- for arriving late. I can understand not being allowed into the class, however, being considered a no show when you are physically present is so unnerving- especially when the girl in the front assured me I wouldn't be charged a fee. Long story short, I called to speak to someone about the charge, no one ever got back to me, I disputed the charge, and then this location charged me 4x the initial fee with an emphasis on how the account will be sent to collections if unpaid. The manager did not send me the contract as she agreed she would, nor did the owner reply to my email with my concerns. No understanding, no courtesy, policy is "policy". I have been recommending Pilates to so many friends and family - but definitely not here. The one in Bayside is so much more welcoming and accommodating, and there is a new one opening in fresh meadows. NEW HYDE PARK - a little bit of understanding can...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeyond inefficient system. Good luck booking a class on the app. About 90% of the time you will be on waitlist for classes. And when you take yourself off of a waitlist, it will not completely do it on their end and book you (on the rare chance the class even has space)
There are late fees (if you come in past 5 minutes) and membership freezing fees. Your credits do not roll over to the next month which doesnāt make any sense if booking a class is a hassle itself. I had to constantly look at the app to check if I was closer to getting taken off a waitlist for almost every class. This is my last month here and I havenāt been able to get a single class in for the past two weeks even after waitlisting myself for multiple classes per day.
The app glitches as well and takes you off the waitlists and the workers call you 30 minutes prior to a class saying they noticed you were on the waitlist and ask if you still want to join. I mean seriously? Not everyone is in Pilates gear 24/7 and lives 15 minutes away.
For over 200 dollars a month for 8 credits/classes, I would rather...
